Anaconda

gave it an oil change after 1500 miles and it was filthy.

Miraz

Finally managed to get it back on the road after doing the GSXR front end swap....

Need to tweak a few more things and refit the fairings and it should all be good to go again....

Um? Lets see, what did I do for my GS today?

Wholly crap Fry I see a tire/rim on your bike? And good call on blacking out the front rotor. I can't stand that crappy gold that came from the factory!

P.S. Thanks for the kind words on the other thing.

Pictures of Junior to follow after belly pan and headlight cowling go back on this weekend.

But as for the last few days:
=====================
* Brand new factory fresh 1994 fuel tank
* Fuel petcock
* Gas cap (keyless type)
* Fuel lines
* Rear brakes
* Front brakes
* Front and rear: rotors, bearings, tires and gun metal gray rims (took off white rims)
* Factory new (old stock) tail plastics
* All new fluids
* Complete tune up including timing, plugs, shims
* K&N air filter
* V&H sport exhaust (gave away old one)
* New battery (old one tested OK but had no idea how old it was so went the safe route)
* factory original turn signals (removed goofy looking small ones which will probably be in Monday's trash)
* UN-did fenderectomy and put back on a complete original rear fender
* Replaced mud guard under center of frame with new one
* Gimbel rear sets (last week)
* Gimbel solo seat (last week)
(that's all I can remember right now)

OK, went out at midnight and put belly pan back on. Had to notch the inner front to due to the different fit of the V&H pipes.

Waiting for parts from Buddha to put on a newly painted front fender.

Rear hugger will also go back on this Saturday.

Junior runs fantastic!

Junior is taking shape.  :cheers:

Still have to decide what color for the back of the seat. I'll photoshop a few color schemes and details. I have all the necessary factory colors and touch up pens (very handy to touch up tail pieces - I can make them look almost brand new though those on Junior right now ARE brand new old stock from Europe). FYI: European tail pieces have "Slingshot". American ones don't. Unsure what the Canadians did. :cookoo:

Added on the R&G exhaust protector to the V&H, and the crash sliders are there but don't show well. There is the R&G toe guard & bar ends, aluminum chain guard, Gimbel rear sets. I feel he looks better with factory original mag wheels rather than white. Works better with the black & red theme. Smoke turn signals and smoke tail light going on, too, to keep with the color scheme.

Tires are new, stock size and ready for the rear hugger. I have another belly pan I will try modifying to allow for engine bars. The fun thing is changing the bike whenever you feel like it  :woohoo:

A re-painted fender goes on in a couple days. Buddha's fork pieces (which hold the fender) and right side stator cover are in the mail. Antares Red or Novelty Black fender? Photoshop to the rescue!
Any detailing on the headlight cowling? Or put on the Novelty Black one maybe with some silver and red detailing? Opinions anyone?  :dunno_black:

Should the Dunlop stickers go by way of the trash (along with the turn signals I took off and the "fenderectomied" fender)? I think a silver reflective SUZUKI might be more striking for appearance.
(FYI: The tiny white spots on the tank are camera flash reflections. The tank is absolutely perfect!)

Here's how he looks today:

Note: Turned reflector upside down. Less annoying without doing a fenderectomy. Added reflective SUZUKI.

mister

Lubed the chain and readjusted the headlight up/down.

Adidasguy: Unless you are contractually obligated to Dunlop to display their logo and are somewhat reimbursed for doing so, take the stickers off. And personally, same with the exhaust - otherwise you're paying them for the right to advertise their stuff.

The Dunlop was there and right - it will go bye bye. A prior owner must have bought Dunlop tires. The V&H will stay otherwise I have pop rivet holes to fill in. I think the V&H isn't so bad but the Dunlop - yea - fugley.
Now to do some photoshop work for the seat colors while the lau lau and portagese sausage I brought back from Hawaii is cooking. MMMmmmmmm!

Ask not what your bike can do for you, ask what you can do for your bike ...

What a quaint thought ... most of the moron's out there are have no clue ... they expect their bike to run ... in fact I'm surprised they know to put gas  in it, and you cannot imagine the number of fools that shove the nozzle in far enough to dent the bottom of the tank ... my Idiot friend did that to a nighthawk he bought from me, tore off the kreem coating and got it to rust. Nice work dumbass.

Cool.

Junior is looking "SWEET!" I must have missed it but is the fenderectomy coming or are you not allowed to in WA.?

adidasguy

Per prior posts, I un-did the circumcision and put back the factory original fender and original turn signals.
I like it that way.
The circumcised fender is in the recycling bin and the small turn signals that were on Junior are in the trash bin.

JB848

Wow, really you like the long fender? I have seen on here some atricious fenderectomies. Take a look at mine I think you might like. If not to each his own.

Where do you get that Bellypan?.
Im planing to made it myself, but better will be to buy one. So where can i find bellypan like yours?

KlaXon:

The belly pan (in Europe: Bug Spoiler) is the factory original for the GS500E. I found it new, in the original box in Israel on ebay. There was one on ebay last month, also original. No one bid on it so I bought it after the auction ended. I plan to change it to Antares Candy Red (color code 19A) so I can change bike colors.

There are pans by many other companies but most all are in Germany or the UK, where the GS500 is very popular. Price and quality varies. Plan on painting any pan you get unless you find an original Suzuki item (in the color you want). Some after market ones come in black. It all depends on where you look and what you're willing to pay.

Got my chain guard from centuryghost along with the three bolts, two washers, right side contact cover and emblem from cheap cycle parts installed. Now in four weeks I can replace the right side fairing, paint it, and apply OEM stickers.

Today I did 239 miles and 363 miles yesterday. Only a short amount was on highways, most of it was done on back roads. About 3500 bike were there for the rally.

Today I did a bushy...

Was riding along. Heard a Rattle and couldn't figure what it was. When I pulled up I saw my chain guard was Off the chain. Front screw was loose, rear screw was Gone!  :o So I pulled out a zip tie and secured it.

Anyone know what is needed for number's 14 and 15 below (can they be bought at a hardware store or is it a dealer only thing?)...

Also, the tab looks like it has two parts. This is for each side of the tab on the swingarm, correct?

Just checked my bike. M6x12mm screw with a PH3 head (14) and 15 was just a washer (6id, 22od and 1.5mm thick).

Almost as good as mine Mister. Got home from a ride out to Coominya and pulled into the garage, jumped off the bike, hey presto to the amazing tail light that unscrewed itself and was only hanging from the wires. I have lost count of the bolts and screws that manage to undo themselves and go missing on my bike. I had the same thing happen with my chain guard too and got replacements at the local hardware.
