Hi,
Has any tried to use one of these mounts on their bike. Found on fleabay

seems cheap enough try, at only $9.00 just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this type of mount.
I have seen the Ram type fittings but thought this would be an alternative

Personally I wouldnt want my phone on the bars, but it looks like it would work.

I prefer keeping my phone off and leaving it in my pocket...

I bought a similarly cheap looking gps mount on ebay that just clamps onto my handlebars. Haven't gotten to try it out yet. Looks easy enough, the phone isn't too heavy. Maybe just tie a safety line on it for the first few trips until you trust it. I may actually look into one for my phone. I hate pulling in for gas after an 3 hours of riding, and seeing that my wife had called an hour and a half ago. I don't need to be texting or talking while I ride or anything like that, it would just be nice to be able to easily see if someone is calling, not to mention it would be nice to be able to see the GPS on my phone if I needed it.

Give it a try and let us know how it works! I'll probably actually look for something similar for mine before spring gets here.

This is the one I bought for my GPS...

Except when I bought it, the auction started at 1cent and shipping from hong kong was $1.47. I scored the entire setup for $1.48 shipped. They've since yanked the starting price up to $7, suckers haha.

hmm... you're lucky, I looked around for my phone and don't see anything. Even the car mounts they have are all massive like this thing....

I should go to some phone stores, measure phones until I find a few that are almost the same size as mine, and see what other options are out there.

I used to do the same, just my new phone has a built in GPS and I'm thinking that when I go exploring around the hills it would be great to know where I was and how to get home!

I have seen the Ram mount that screws into the mirror mount and that may be better than the handlebar mount, but I think I'll try this first. It also means I can get rid of the stupid pushbike speedo that I use for a clock (thats all its good for doesn't register over 80km/hr.

I'll keep seaching fleabay and see how cheap I can get it for

Looks like you might be able to do some video on the bike with that mount maybe if you point it up.

yeah, lets wait and see what the vibration is like. I was always accidently recording videos in my car with my previous phone.lol :cookoo:

Make sure you put a lanyard on it. I wouldn't trust a bicycle mount with the vibration of a motorcycle.

I use RAM mounts on all my motorcycles to mount all kinds of stuff, but I don't see one for that phone.  They do have a generic one that will probably work.

Would be nice to have a mount to use my phone as a gps on trips, but otherwise I really wouldnt have a use for it, not like im gonna make a call while riding  :icon_eek:

Good idea with the lanyard but my phone has no where to atach it. I was talking to one of the guys at work and he has a simular mount on his 1098, says he just puts 2 heafty rubberbands around either end and has never had a problem.

zirconx

Rubber bands sound like a good idea. I was thinking of a lanyard to the cradle part that holds the phone, in case the bar-mount part or the ball-socket broke.

Aussie GS500F 06

didn't think about that, good thinking 99

Well, the mount arrived Monday, I put it straight on the bike and today (friday) I finally got to test it out. It works fantastic, doesn't seem to vibrate and its nice and secure.  Not bad for $4.98! I'll post some pics tonight!

Are you doing this for GPS Purposes? Or do you plan to put your biT**es on speaker phone while you ride?
Sticks and stones may break your bones but chains and whips excite you? Oh Shyt!

Glad to hear it works well, I'd still like to get something to mount my phone someday, I just don't want something too bulky. I just bought a new tank bag so at least for rides where I need it I'll just stick my phone in the clear window pocket. It'll let me passively use the GPS while I'm riding, plus I can still hook up some ear phones and just listen to it while I'm riding.

This works well (I have the same mount) for my Garmin 255w.  I fabbed a bar that runs horizontal between the 2 bars for my faring and I fastened this to that bar and my GPS sits nicely in there.  and my 12v accessory socket is right in there too.  I'll take some pics tonight and post so you get the idea.  As others have said, I dont think I would want anything mounted on my handlebars.  I used to have a handlebar mount on my ATV for my GPS and didnt like it....

AS promised Photo's, we all love photo's

Primarily for GPS use. also good for the time.

I have a blue tooth stereo headset for listening to music from the phone. I dont take calls while riding, but it will be useful to be able to see the screen in a case of emergency (eg the kids have run riot and I'm needed home asap!)

I'm using the Biologic iPhone mount and it works great and is weatherproof.
