Get some tubing for the battery vent, you don't want that getting on the battery tray or anything else...it will eat it fast...

Later.

Seeing as though my battery dropped a cell last night, I bought a new battery today, put it in and got my GS home  :)

And for $65 on a public holiday when the shop wasn't even open, can't complain  :thumb:

With a little rerouting the original hose works fine to attach, just had to make sure I didn't pass it through the suspension.
I like a non-sequitur as much as the next Giraffe.

Yesterday, bought a brand spanking new battery, after I had to push start to get home from work the day before. Annoyingly however, despite the manufacturer claiming this battery fits the GS500, it is fractionally smaller than my original battery so doesn't fit snugly in the battery tray, and the vent tube is on the opposite side. Couldn't find any foam, so stuffed bubble wrap down the side to prevent it sliding around.

I just cable tie mine in place, its not going to go anywhere, but i like to be sure  :thumb:

New cam chain tensioner installed finally.  Already noticed a huge difference when I just rode up and down the block a few times

I have a new set of black bars on my table. My headlight bucket, fork brace and headlight mounts are all getting powder coated black this week.  :D

Installed a brand new Vance and Hines exhaust, new buddah jet kit (albeit with a few newb errors) new machine cover, and my amazing seat from Top Sellerie in France which looks great.

I'm ordering springs this weekend along with a Left side mirror (bike didn't come with one, was purchased dropped) new oil cover bolts (P.O has 3 different sizes and head types there, lord)  and a Katana rear shock.   I'll be ordering new rubber as well and will be installing a brake line kit.

I'll post pics next time I go out.

This is one gorgeous freaking bike. That seat man ... beautiful. Who ever said GS500's are rats never saw one like this.

BTW That multi faceted side cover almost looks like it belongs there from the start ... that grey motor I think has that effect, cos on the black motors it stick out like a sore thumb, immediately draws your eye.

Cool.

Thanks Buddah!  I'll be posting all my upgrades as they come along, which at this rate will be a pretty quick pace.  Suspension parts should be in route.

Anyone have a source for those machine chain guards I've seen around?  They look pretty sweet.  I'm thinking this bike is going to stay with me for a really long time.  I'll be buying another bike next year but it'll be for long distance highway riding or a dual sport.

I honestly can't think of any bike I'd rather have for around the city or town than the GS.  I can park it in NYC and not worry about it getting lifted and it handles amazing even before my suspension upgrades.

The Buddha

Suspension upgrade - do it right, upgrade it to a katana.
BTW the one part I never liked about the kat FE was the fact that the headlights had to be fitted on to a modified GS ear and worse yet the grommet had to be stretched over. I think I may have solved that problem with the new idea of mine.
Yea, more parts that took hours to make that people never cared about. I'll probably try to sell it, then of course I am probably going to make clip on's - true clip on's with the same method.

Nice seat. Did you get it from Germany like Addidas did/does? Got a link so others who are interested in one can get one too?

http://www.topsellerie.com/      -  I bought the last one they had on special.  It was pretty expensive with shipping since I had to send my core back to them but it was worth it.  Its a gel seat and it really upgrades the look of the bike.  Plus my ass doesn't fall asleep on the bike like it used to.

Yes i know the reason for it being there. I wouldnt dare paint stainless tho it would only chip and peel within an hour of riding. I rarely carry a passanger so i dont think i will have to many problems. If so one may have hot right foot= not my problem haha

Meh, I forgot my camera to work, so you'll have to be satisfied with crappier quality pictures.

Gave my baby a party hat

Now with the hat, I think that her butt looks too thin and blocky, perhaps I'll do some plastic surgery on it  ;)
