I'm guessing the Pakistani Government wasn't too cool with the US running commando on their soil without permission. He was probably dumped at sea during a hot exit.

I can dig what you are saying, BUT.... As you have seen over the past ten years, the Taliban LOVE camcorders and the press. They know that if he is not dead and this was some sort of "re-elect me because of what I have done" scam, then they would come out immediately because they know that would destroy our country more then another terrorist attack!

No conspiracy here. While Bin laden may not have acted like a Muslim that is what he called himself. The US cannot risk offending anyone, even over someone as evil as Osama. Not to mention what country wants he remains? If he was buried on land there would be a place for other terrorists to worship him (crazy people think alike i guess) and we dont want that now do we.

See this is the other thing that strikes me as stupid -

A U.S. official said that the burial decision was made after concluding that it would have been difficult to find a country willing to accept the remains. There also was speculation about worry that a grave site could have become a rallying point for militants.

OK so they rally around the site, and we bomb them right there. So what's the problem. Put it in some nice remote location in southern afganisthan where we will have good ground cover for nice "sneak up and catch" operations, and good areial view for "bombing to timbuktu" without moving a finger ... Come on people think.

If the US is claiming he is dead - something Many people have thought for a Long time, estimating he died in a cave in Afghanistan years ago - then it's a good Diversion for something else. Divert attention away from the fake birth cert (Wag The Dog style) or something else, perhaps.

Bin Laden has been the Emmanuel Goldstein for the War On Terror. The Ragnar Danneskjöld of Atlas Shrugged to keep people in Fear. A Boogie Man. The US will have to create another scapegoat now. Ayman al-Zawahiri is a good prospect cause the govt has been claiming he is the 2IC of the non-existent Al Qaeda for years. Now they can make him the new boogieman. Or photochop a new one into existence.

That's f%&ked up, just saying. No death should be celebrated, no matter who it is. Yeah sure he did some bad stuff, but no reason to go that far about it.

I only have one question....If everyone(most everyone) in the world has wanted this one person dead, why has it taken so long to do it?
