some of you know about my problem with one coil not working right...it sometimes fires and most of the time it doesn't....the bigest problem is when i try to keep the same speed and the bike a horse trying to throw the rider from it's back..

could i disconnect the - or + from the bad coil so it works on one cyl? this is just temporary until i get the good coil....

will this damage the electical system if i disconnect the + or - from the bad coil?

thanks

Is this your only means of transportation? I would stop riding that bike until the part comes in. Expecially, if you have another means of transportation. No reason to risk unnessessary damage or wear to the one running cylinder. When the other cyl cuts out its just pushin' air, wasting gas and when it's on the compression stroke it's placing twice the load on the other cylinder.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

you're right that the one cyl is taking all the harm and is working twice as hard but i need the bike sometimes when my mom takes her car...basicly she has a car and i got the bike so when she takes the car, i have to use my GS

Spark has to go somewhere... if not that might hurt somehitng... Also mechanically its bad cos the loads are really high... will it damage somehitng in the motor... maybe not... I hope not... cos my virago was doing it... but I believe its carburetion related.
Cool.
