Tell that to the cop who clocked me at 107mph trying to get from one office to another late for a meeting yesterday.  :police:

Oh god. Save me the squid comments. I've been riding for over a decade and if any of you can say you've never broken the speed limit trying to make it to work on time you're full of sh*t.

WOT on a wide open highway in the middle of the afternoon w/ nobody on it... late to work... not swerving through traffic at 107 during rush hour.

The post was more a 'f*ck I got a speeding ticket' than 'look how fast I was going'... but tone doesn't translate well on the internet.

I guess you live in canada or something...
I thought in the US, a ticket over 100mph was an automatic "go to jail, have to pay bail" thing. Or maybe thats just california?

ghostrider_23

In Florida it's anything over 31 MPH above the speed limit

Personally haven't liked a job to speed TO work. Being late is like meh, no one cares. Just waltz in and say hi, carry on etc

107 and you weren't taken to jail ? That's a cool copper !

Couldn't be Canada... he said miles per hour... not kilometers.
And in Ontario at least, anything 50kph/31mph over the limit is auto suspension and impound vehicle.

At the local track, I've got severial GPS confirmed readings of 102-103. At the same spot, I'll usually see an indicated 140 on the 600 I used to ride there, though my best speed was ~150.

Here's a duel with a BMW S1000RR @ Sears Point. I felt like the GS was pretty fast in this vid.

Do 40km over in Australia and it's loss of license for 6 month. Cannot recall what amount over is auto loss of license for 10 years, $10,000 fine, bit of jail time and loss of vehicle as well (might be 100kph over)   :dunno_black:

Dude, speeding for work is pointless, no matter how late you are. Work will still be there. In fact, whatever you are in a rush for will still be there - accept maybe trying to get to a hospital before someone passes on. As such, the risks for speeding far outweigh the benefits and the time saving is miniscule. When you mature enough and your Sense Of Urgency leaves you, you will understand this, in the meantime you'll think this post is having a go at you.

"Hello?"
"Hey, it's kidsixteen, I'll be late for the meeting"
"Okay, see you when you get here"

How long you have been riding has no bearing on the above.

In Minnesota, you could go to jail, or just giving a ticket, all depends. I've never brought someone to jail for speeding tho.

with speeding comes tickets. with tickets comes fines, court fees, raised insurance, etc.. not to mention the increased consequences of your mistakes

an architect i use to work with put it in pretty good terms for me. he asked only one simple question, "if you get a ticket rushing save a couple minutes, how many hours will you have to work to pay it off?"

if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

He wrote it down to 97 to keep from having to take me to jail.

Agreed, except I was rushing from an ops meeting at one office with my team to a board meeting I was partially hosting for the venture capitalists who own our companies and haven't met me yet.

To be honest, I'll probably expense the damn ticket.

Stoked I didn't go to jail... I honestly didn't think this lil-guy had triple digits in him in the first place... if I were on a ninja 250 w/ the throttle wide open like that I woulda prolly been going the speed limit and it would feel like I was in triple digits..

For some reason it's way easier for me to stay near the speed limit on a Ducati w/ double the HP/Tq than it is on the GS. Which is a bummer, cause the whole reason I got it was to be a slow little commuter bike that I couldn't get in too much trouble with..

That was 4 months ago... since then I bought two and a half more GS's and have probably ridden the Duc like ten times as compared to the 2k miles I've put on my original GS.

slipperymongoose

It's good when coppers do that, write you down in the lessor catagory. As mister said 40 over the limit and your done for 6 months plus a fine, and it's up to the officer if he impounds your car under the hoon laws for 48 hrs, 3 months, or forfeit to the state depending if it's your first, second, or third offense.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

From ghostrider.

"What is a squid"

Squid are cephalopods of the order Teuthida, which comprises around 300 species. Like all other cephalopods, squid have a distinct head, bilateral symmetry, a mantle, and arms. Squid, like cuttlefish, have eight arms arranged in pairs and two, usually longer, tentacles. Squid are strong swimmers and certain species can 'fly' for short distances out of the water.

Note; A squid is the only cephalopod or Mollusk capable of riding a motorcycle.
I'm not a racist, some of my best friends are you people.

Twisted

Off topic but what sort of Ducati are you riding?
