Tank Bra, I swear....

I got this tank cover from http://www.topsellerie.com/ and it did not come with any instructions on how to put it on. I have emailed them but have not got a response. Has anyone used one of these ones before?

I also jetted my bike today with a lunchbox and Jardine (thanks for the jets Buddah) and its running great through the rev range other than the backfiring when engine braking, is this normal? Also the tacho when accelerating over 7k rpm it seems to bounce up and down like a seismometer now, loose cable?

Better pics when the sun comes out.

Thanks for any help in these matters.  :2guns:

From what i've seen they usually just slip over the tank and they usually have some straps that go underneath to secure it. Can't say for sure though without seeing the tank bra

Bluesmudge

i have one. really easy to install. what are you having trouble with?

Kijona

Backfiring is indicative of lean condition. You might try adding an itty bitty washer on the needles. It's simple enough to do. I'm sure someone will show you a link.

hehe got it on, I was being a derp yesterday I think.

It's got some wrinkles in my bra  :o, have to fine tune it. But overall im liking it.

Rather than lean i'm thinking its a bit rich, a tiny amount of bogging down from 3-6k rpm. Anything I can fiddle with in regards to mixture settings that could help? The popping on lifting off throttle is quite bad as well. Idle is 1.5k ish. Can the engine lift off pop be caused by a bad seal on the header gasket? I did not replace it when I changed exhausts, I cant feel any leaks however.

Needs a wash and clean..  :thumb:

EDIT: Just went for a ride and noticed black smoke coming out of the midpipe..

Hey Gibo. What did you use to get your GPS mounted where it is? Could you put up a pic of it? Thanks.

Gibo

I used the RAM mount provided with the GPS and bolted it to the inside fairing stay bracket. Its solid and does not move. It was then wired up to the battery.

Dresnewtoy

Very cool, I'll copy what you did. Thanks!

Are those grimbel rearsets?  Could you post a picture of the shift side?  They claimed they wouldn't work with fairings!   :thumb:

I love the look of those tank bras. Seeing your shiny new one reminds me I need to give mine a good scrub!

A few issues:

I need to fix the mixture, its running a bit shaZam! (ie: bogging down 3-6k rpm and high top end)

The tacho is going spastic above 6k rpm.

The rear brake pedal is not engaging hard enough, I push it to the mid pipe and its not enough to stop me rolling back on a steep hill.

Ill think of other things after im drunk....

redhawkdancing

Did you have to remove the centerstand to fit the rearsets on?

Gibo

no, but i did remove it because there was a massive split in the centerstand welds.
