I am in Australia. Had an old CB400 import which was looking a fair bit tired. So I got a GS instead. Mainly use it to ride to work.

What kind of Cb400? A 75 to 77 or the later model? Either way, welcome to the site!

And welcome Bear and Ajluby!

Thank you Ourea. I already found the Aussie section and put question.

Big Rich. Later model yes. Not model with Vtec. They are too much money for me. This was old 1998 one. Thought I would try a GS500 instead. Don't need bigger bikes cause I only ride to work. Only small number of us ride to work. Couple Harley guys. I work in factory and we have big plastic bags that goes over pallets. One of the Harley fellows uses one of those big plastic bags to cover his bike. And there is guy who rides Honda CX500 with ripped seats and he treat badly.

Charles

Hi all, I'm Charles and I recently moved to Ooltewah TN (near Chattanooga) from the Middle Georgia area, where I spent the last 20 years.  I rode in college and recently decided to get back into it.  I've enjoyed reading and learning a lot from the folks here and look forward to lots of time spent riding and wrenching.  My GS500E is a '92 model that I picked up for 300 bucks... it needs some cosmetic work, but tires and a carb cleaning got it on the road!

Matthew from Thomasville, GA.

Recently purchased a 1996 GS500e from numus.

Still having issues getting it running, so I've ridden it very little.  When I did, it was enjoyable.  If anyone is the south GA, north FL area, and wants to spend an afternoon helping me sort a few issues out, I'd be quite pleased!

It's too bad!  I'd definitely take the help.  I know I'm getting close, I can feel it.  I feel like I'm missing something, and a fresh set of eyes/hands would really make all the difference in the world.

I suppose if you wanted to pay for my gas I could ride down there. It'll have to be a little warmer before I ride 4hrs on a motorcycle, though. LOL

Hi Everyone,

I am completly new the the forum world. My post in the Project/Builds area is my first so I dont have any kind of back ground or rep.
I am just willing to mfg a couple of simple parts that seem to be really over priced everywhere else. I am not getting in this to make a bunch of money its just something for me and a friend of mine to do. I am a purchaing agent for a company that mfgs military ground support equitment for all branches, so I know what it takes to make a good product.

I bought my first bike in Aug 2011- A brand new 2008 GS 500F, yeah I found a brand new 3 year old bike.LOL.. I have only been able to put about 1000 miles on it so far but have big plans on riding a lot once we warm back up.

Any advice anyone has would be apprecitated.

28 years old, Married, 1 kid from Missouri, 2008 GS 500F (Black) all stock for now.

Brand new to motorcycling and picked up a GS as a first bike. Looking forward to learning both mechanical and motorcycle skills and very happy I found this site. I a 22 year old male that recently graduated college in May '11 but am looking to go back. I live in Upstate NY and it's currently a cool 17 degrees Fahrenheit out.  Just waiting for April 30th to register and get on the road and practicing.
