I don't understand this, when my bike was running everyone would slow down, and other bikers would pull up next to me and stare at my chest trying to figure out if I was a female or not, now some might ask how do I know, 3 cars in the last 4 months ive been riding a motorcycle, Ive been honked at and yelled vulgar things. Directed at females ofc, but I wear jeans/combat boots a 4 season jacket and a helmet, how does this make me look like a female?! now I do have to say, im not the "biggest" rider out there.. only weighing in around 120lbs and being 5'7" I'm not the biggest guy in the world.. but still! If what I wear looks like female wear, than im a really skinny butch women!

Look down the page for the pickup problem

Always ride with one of those Harley shirts that says, "If you can read this then the Biatch fell off."   O0

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Ah, that will go much better with the hairy chest and the rolled-sleeve wool flannel.

are you running stock exhaust? I think you need an angrier sounding bike.

Well there's your problem right there. Seems ya only got one pickup.

haha!

Either way, with just the one, you should be able to accomplish the timing job. Just align the one pickup to TDC and follow the dye-rections.

The other nubs are just for lost spark or something? for emissions? Why is your signal rotor so nubby? What the hell.

THAT WAS MY QUESTION! lol!

btw I have no idea what your talking about, this whole pickup thing is very confusing...

well, the widest/biggest nub on the rotor is the one that happens before tdc, aka, combustion. In our case, it is the only one that creates work. the other lost sparks are little baby ones, maybe? if they even occur, they are usually meant to burn up leftover stuff. (I could be wrong) So you should just align the forward pickup to the hash
L - T  |
........^ that one, I believe.
Then the Right cyl will be at TDC
and then  do your pin counting.

the beer garage is down for me right now, not sure about you, but if you have the manual, same thing.

I edited a couple times, so recheck^^^
& bt-dubs, i'm off to bed, gotta be up in three hours woo. Get a new pickup and go ride. Do it, its good for the heart.

In the pic you provided, there should be a second piece bolted on that's missing. See where the threaded holes are? It's supposed to be right there.

Funderb

what kijona said, you are supposed to have two. How do you not have two? one for each cylinder.
Do you know you need two? I thought you did. Go get another one. kids these days.

I didn't take it off! LOL! I took the side cover off, and it wasn't there? Possibly PO screwed me over AGAIN? wouldn't be surprised. Where do I get another one?

and I know its supposed to be right there, but it isnt! Where did it go?! did the engine eat it?! lol!  :technical:

I'd have to look at mine but it seems like there should be another set of wires as well, unless the second one grounds to the outer ring where it's bolted on.

Edit: How much did you pay for this thing anyway? How the bastard even runs without that is an f'ing miracle to me.
