Hello,
Just picked up my 2001 GS500. The bike is perfect except previous owner had a GPS or something mounted on handlebars which left a couple scratches. Anyone have bars laying around that they are not using?
Thanks

adidasguy

I would suggest taking them off and hitting them with a rattle can.

BVA1

Thanks. The bars are chrome and I was hoping to keep bike original.  I found that new bars are still for sale from some of the online parts places. Figured I would try here first in case anybody had some collecting dust  :)

adidasguy

Sorry - didn't know chrome. Most I've seen are black.

No sorry needed. So many different bikes,so little time! :icon_mrgreen:

arent all bike stock black?

if so then keeping it original would mean painting them back black...

I am fairly sure that chrome is not stock on a gs500

OK, I called a couple places and they show 2001-2002 as same part # with chrome bars. So maybe 2003 up they went to black?

Just tried to post pic of bike. I will have to research forum to see how to do it,as it did not work. Found a number of pics of other 2001's like mine with chrome bars though.

Sorry about pic size. I will try and post smaller

My 2001 has stock chrome handlebars.  I will be putting motocross bars on mine in the future and might have mine for sale.  Although, I don't know if they are in better shape than yours........
