I was planning on getting an airhawk 2 today... but suddenly, all the places anywhere near me, were out of stock.
Meanwhile, one or two walmarts, suddenly, got the colman seat protector back in stock.
(The one previously called the "ATV seat protector", and in fact, the online description still says that I think. But the actual product label now says:

"Colman  Comfort Ride(tm) Seat Protector"

Since my primary issue was vibration... I decided to do a quickie test, just on vibrations at idle, since that is the most extreme vibe case.

Sad to say, it did absolutely NOTHING to reduce vibration, as far as I can tell.

It does seem to be a bit more comfy though. So, I'll still take it along for my 2x100mile ride tomorrow.

Let us know if it extends the time you can comfortably ride. The rock hard F seat is one of my biggest complaints and I have been considering a custom seat, but have heard about these WalMart dealies.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the seat pad talked about on ADVRider all the time. For a ton of reviews on it, you could search that forum.

I have read about it on ADV rider but I would imagine the usefullness varies depending on the seat you strap it to. Lets hear how it does on the GS.

On ADVrider they said the cover is not waterproof so its no good if you park your bike outside.

It's funny, I've gone on one 200 mile ride and a few 100 or so mile rides and the old buttocks has not complained once!

Ihave an F seat. I have not gone on any SUPER-long rides before. For regular commute riding (30 mins) I have found the seat to be fine. But occasionally. I have found my rear-end getting a little sore.

and then, there was the one time of the horrors of the hemorhoids, on a long-day canyon ride

so, I figured I needed insurance before the long trip tomorrow!

F here, Haven't even given my butt a second thought. However, I did ride my brothers new Ninja 650R the other day and LOVED the seating/riding position, just felt perfect, whereas the GS500F feels just "pretty good", lol.

GS is fine for 100 miles but its not comfortable by any means. I've done 200 in a day but I was hurting. I guess my butt just doesn't like the GS seat. My Uncle's R1200 GS is good for 800+ mile days no problem. Thats a big difference.

I've done plenty of 300 mile days on the GS without issue. I've done a 300 mile day followed the next day with 250 mile and no issue.

May I ask, in what way you feel the seat is causing discomfort? It might not be the seat but something else which you think is the seat.

Well I have an OEM Gel seat coming so when it gets here I post up my opinion. I have no problem with the original but I would like a more comfortable ride.

Is my F seat the only one that is rock hard? I guess you all have iron bums.

Nope, mine is like sitting in the middle of the highway.  You sit, seat does not sink.

For long trips, I wear padded bicycle shorts.  It's a bit strange, but I arrive not-as-sore.

Update to my original review:

After riding it for 2x100 miles, at .. umm.... 'I-5 speeds", I think that it does make a *slight* difference in vibration reduction. But not much.
And it improves padding... somewhat.   
But my tailbone... or, technically, my double-loop "Ischium"... still gets sore after about 40 mins.

Who knows, it may possibly have gotten "less sore" than without it.. but I'm not gonna ride 100 miles without the pad to compare, sorry 

(I'm pretty durn boney. 140lbs-ish, at 5'7")

Not strange at all. You will find a few of us recommend this in the threads about rider comfort on longer rides.
