Finally got my new clutch lever/perch in the mail today and put it on. Rode it for a bit, and after almost 3 weeks of no riding it I missed it a lot  :woohoo:

Popped the carbs out last night and started to disassemble.  Found a couple of bad O-Rings right off the bat, one on the left vacuum port, one on the right float needle seat.  When I get home today it'll be cleaned, the passages will be blown out and hopefully I'll be able to reassemble.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

I got a new push rod and seal for my clutch, and now she's fixed! Gotta go pick her up shortly and drive back to work! :thumb:

Now I've just gotta wait for my replacement mirror (mirror cracked off when the bike tipped over), I've got eBay mirrors with integrated turn signals coming, since they were cheaper than replacing the stock ones, and now I get nicer indicators! :woohoo:

Here's the mirrors for those curious:

I had the stem mount version of those mirrors after I went naked. I found that the indicators weren't very bright, and that the housings are very fragile. I stalled out after a stop and fell over and the whole mirror came off at the stem. Hopefully your luck is better than mine.

My brother in lay re-installed the engine in my 95 GS and DAMN what a BIOTCH that was! And yes I had a floor jack under it with a 1x6 to lift it up and hold it in place. It must have taken us 2 hours!

Now or very soon, Ive got to take the engine out of the 07 and man Im already dreading it

Once I thought removing a motor was hard.... until I did it. about 5 minutes all by myself. Same for putting one back in. Maybe 10 minutes tops.

Go through my thread on building Phenix and you'll find pictures and description of how I got one out of one bike and into Phenix all by myself.

A couple months later I did the same again when building a new motor for Junior. That went really fast as it was the 2nd time I pulled and installed a motor.

I was surprised how easy it can be. And I did it all by myself. Me and the floor jack. That's all it took.

Thanks. We actually had taken a break and came inside so I could come here and do some searching and when we went back out we got it back in a short amount of time but in the beginning was hell!

Rebuilt the carbs (got the right set this time!), installed the carbs and air box, adjusted the clutch and front brake levers, and adjusted the rear brake. Tomorrow I'll bleed the brakes, hook the gas tank back up, and hopefully start the bike for real this time! :thumb:

Lubed the chain on both bikes, after riding them both.

Finally took the airbox out, and installed K&N lunchbox.
No more air starvation!

A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Put the gas tank back on, turned it over, and.....nothing. The engine turns over just fine, but doesn't want to fire up. I'm going to pick up a spark tester and some starting fluid. Hopefully the problem is its just a 20 year old engine thats been sitting for 2 years and needs some ether to wake it up. At least it isn't leaking this time.

Finally got the rounded banjo bolt off the rear master cylinder. :woohoo: I was ready to give up but hammered on a size smaller extractor socket and  the bolt finally moved with the breaker bar. I have my fancy new brake line on now. I can't wait to lock up the rear and curse at myself for doing it. Up next, finally install the bigger jets in the carbs so it runs better at start up.

Finally got started on getting the surface rust and grime off of the front of my bike. There were random bolts that had some and the headlight brackets were really gross. While I was at it I took the upper and lower bar clamps off so that I could repaint those with the headlight brackets. I am thinking about repainting the bars as well, but when I sanded them it gave it a nice brushed look, so I have to decide on that.

I had quite the time figuring out how to disconnect the turn signals...I'm trying not to let my noob show  :icon_razz:
