Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Ah......since my muffler had a few scratches, I decided to cover them up. And yes, it hold up just fine with the heat.

I want to do this so bad. Where did you get the material?

weedahoe

I'm a dealer for vinyl and use a lot of it in my work. However, you can buy it all over ebay

So its a high temp vinyl?

I've aslways been afraid that the adhesive would fail over time from the heat cycling.

weedahoe

3M DiNoc is a thicker material made for exterior usage. It already has good adhesive but we couple that with adhesion promoter

You got a blue one out of me!

I wasn't thinking: I should have sent you a set of LEDs to go with them  :cookoo:
You'll want them so the blue cap doesn't get hot and pop off from running with the high beam.

Beemersworld

Tell me how much $$ to send ya!   I couldnt find any LEDs locally.   Ill paypal it today!

Today I rode her. I'm piling the miles on now that she runs again. Replaced the clutch cable tuesday night, and now 250 miles later, it's friday, with another 30 to cover tonight.

She might be ugly but so fun :) Can't wait till I put together the funds for a Bandit!

Thank you!

Tuesday I took off the other Gimbel seat and put on the OEM tail plastics. I think they look better and now the red/silver on the lower front cowling makes sense. Another of the smaller Gimbel seats on order to paint to match (that one on now is from Phenix and needs to go back to him.)

What fairing is that? And is it a relatively easy (no welding) addition?

Keep your GS500 and get a Bandit, I have both (GSF1200S Bandit).  I enjoy both for what they offer and surprisingly a lot of minor parts are interchangeable between them.

What did I do today?  Finally finished fitting the highway bars to the ThatOtherGirl's Intruder.  I started doing it during the week but the bolt I was given must have been faulty as I had barely tightened it and it broke inside the frame.  Unfortunately, the location made it hard to get at and when I tried using an ezyout (after drilling a hole through the centre), it snapped off.  So then I had to drill small holes around that to get it out, then drill out the hole as the thread was now damaged, then tap a new thread.  Tapping the thread was easy, removing the front end so I could do it was a PITA.

Suzi will get new rubber tomorrow. Original new old stock (NOS) white rims. One came from Greece last week: $150! Unbelievable! Cheap price for a new rim! Stickers off ebay from a company in Spain. My bikes are sooooo international! I wonder what I can pick up when I go to Berlin? Any suggestions on bike shops in Berlin?
Really - you can tell by looking at the rear rim that it is brand new - never ever been on a bike before.
My bike shop (Aurora Suzuki) had a few original old lead wheel weights in white that they used for these. been a long time since they could get colored wheel weights and lead ones. All new ones are plain. I love a dealer that understands the uniqueness (is that "unicorn"?) of my bikes and new old parts. They commented that the box for one rim was addressed from Greece. They know I love my GS500's.
I LOVE new old stock! One advantage of the GS500 going 20 years with few changed. My 2009 will have new 1989 rims!

Hey Patrick just for some clarification..........Unicorn=something that is rare or scarce. :)

UPDATE - my bulbs came in today. Being I have a pair, if this works out (I'll know for sure tonight) then the other single bulb I will have left over along with the lower CREE parking light bulb will be up for sale

Here are some hands-on pics. I did light it up and it is bright! Unfortunately though, the camera auto adjusts for the brightness so it wont capture if correctly.

Purchased a tube of genuine Suzuki Moly Paste to use on the backside of my brake pads to stop the squeal.

Topped off my battery with water close to the upper line.  Starting to crank REAL slow.  Genuine Yuasa battery, so I hope to get more miles out of it.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

Well me replacement engine came in for my other bike on Friday. My brother in law and I had it in that night and i got the chance to fire it up today. Runs good.

But the carbs are flooding so I gotta pull it back apart and check the floats....... UGH

But it has a new engine, new throttle cable, new handle bars, new bar ends, new front brake lever, front/rear brakes have been bled with new DOT4, new battery, chain cleaned and oiled, exhaust cleaned and painted with high temp black.

Needs..........nothing, other than the carb floats to be adjusted....LOL

It was so good to hear it fire up today.
