This time he didn't "think" there was any damage and didn't contact anyone.  (This is a different person driving, by the way.) Actual damage is a bent/broken side stand at least.  Brake caliper got moved, as I had no front brake when I got to the stop sign!  Pumped the lever a few times and it seems to be fine.  I can't see anything else bent, but will be checking the front end very carefully today.

You have some terrible luck there my friend. Give whoever owns that parking lot an earful, they obviously need to let you park on the sidewalk or something.

Wow...  It wedged the wheel below their bumper and actually lifted the rear wheel off the ground.  I would be surprised if the forks were not bent.

at least your company got better cameras! You should talk to them about letting you park on a sidewalk or something.

Talk about stupid. If that guy couldn't see you bike parked in front of him or went forward by accident, he obviously isn't fit to drive.
Wherever you may be, there you are.

that person should not be driving.  I'd be insisting that bollards go up around the motor cycle parking to protect them from idiots like this.  let them hit a bollard and sees what comes out second best.

Update on bent parts:

Axle slightly bent, right brake rotor bent.  About $400 so far.  Forks seem to be straight, but am going to take some very careful measurements.  Any advice on confirming whether they are straight?  Preferably without taking them completely apart?

Us riders have brought up bollards before, but they've kinda blown it off.  I will be parking on the sidewalk in the winter (when I'm just about the only one riding to work) unless they put up some kind of barrier or designate some other area.

Find a good large totally flat surface, like a glass table or something, and roll the full length of the tube side 360+ degrees. Any bend should be pretty apparent

Hit the bastard over the head with them to make sure they are bent :thumb:

That is the most dumbass incompetent fdsa%*&#%^$#^%$grrr

I'd park the thing next to the entrance door of the building - screw the parking lot.

So, you know who it is right?

If so, then yes, the forks are bent and the bike will require new ones. New wheel as you cannot trust the structural integrity of the one you have without Expensive Xrays to verify the wheel is still sound. New tire cause who knows what rubber damage has been done which could come back to haunt you doing 60 down the freeway. Take this prick to the cleaners over it. Sheesh!

you can reuse the old forks.  they're good for pogo sticks.  you get a dumbass cage dweller, insert the axle end where the sun don't shine..........

gsatterw

I agree, try to get him to replace the front end. Just quote him $500

I would get cash, find a parts bike, replace the front end and tire and then use the rest of the money for upgrades, 600-700 for that amount of damage, if they want to go through insurance you will get a good bit of money. If he pays you off I would say 600-700 just because replacement parts are worth more than the bike all together.
