Used to connect the dish to the little satellite thingy. (Dunno what you call it?)

nope, an electrician would probably know what it us right away though

does it hold the wire/cable coming from the outside onto the corner of your roof?

Does it ground a connection?

indeed it does, but where does it go?

jestercinti

A metal rebar stake in the ground.  Pulled one out of my front yeard when I got rid of my antenna.  That thing was in the ground at least 4 feet.

nope, it doesn't go on a ground rod. it goes on the corner of something

jestercinti

A rain gutter?

If not, I am out of ideas.

Alright, not even I knew what this was a minute ago. Had to ask my father. May be very obvious to someone out there. I suppose all these are obvious to someone.

dammit that was a short reign. I'll have to go with something horribly obscure next time to make up for it

LOL, oh crap, that was a wild guess, it looks similar to my own chain cleaner, but different enough for me to think I was totally wrong.  Give me a bit of time to find something.

ThatOtherGuy

Okay, had a look around the office and found something.  It should be obvious what it is, or was anyway, so most people should be able to guess that.  However I'm a big fan of being inventive and not wasting things, so the prize goes to the first person to guess what I actually use this thing for.  As a hint I use many of them in an office environment, from our entry/reception area, the staff office area and the boardroom.  I won't keep people guessing for ages, so this has a time limit of less than 3 hours, since that is when I go home.  So if not guessed by the time I go home, first correct guess of what it was wins.

gsatterw

um. A bookmark? I have no clue what it was, or what it is.  :dunno_black:

A big shiny metal pointing stick
A Venetian blinds adjuster
A back scratcher
A lock bar for a file cabinet

Beyond that I have no idea.

no guesses right so far, but the curtain thing is on the right track for the purpose of the item.  just over an hour before I reveal its purpose, then someone else can have a go.

Something to hang loose leaf paper on?

paper does hang from it, but definitely not loose leaf.  you're the closest so far with 45 minutes to go.
