If you paid $30 and don't want it anyway, why not take the cash and be happy that you got to use a nice table and it cost you nothing?

Just because I could walk away with more than that and I'm a greedy bastard. I've also got a sneeking suspicion that he'll sell it for $200 and walk away with $140.

Say someone sold you and a friend a gs500 for $50, and you each put up $25, then your friend says, hey, I'll give you $25 and I'll take the bike. it'd be some bullshit.

Just because we bought the table for $60, doesn't mean that I/other people value it at only $60. Its a nice table.

Fact of the matter is you're not losing anything. If he wants to go off and sell the table for profit, let him be a piece of shaZam!.

Opportunity cost is a real thing. Hypothetically, say we had a buyer lined up for $200. Why would I accept the $30 when I could get $100. By accepting the $30, I've lost $70.

Thanks all for the reflection. Definitely gonna offer him $30 for it and if he accepts, sell it, cause I'm a dickhead.

FWIW, I really don't see you getting that much out of it. If I get a chance I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. But I got a similar one to that at IKEA in the scratch and dent section (It was the show table) for $30. It ended up being too big for my current digs and I gave it to my friend in my graduation photo.


Now, that's definitely $80 of advice!

Now that I see it's glass you should really take a baseball bat to it.

Make sure you take pics or video so we can see.

Sell the leftover scrap metal for $30.

Set up a youtube channel featuring video of table destruction and make a few bucks from advertising.
(Note: it might help if you place some Suzuki stickers on it before you smash it. This way you might get some kind of royalties from Suzuki).

Take your fat stack of cash to the bank.

Hire a big time Hollywood promoter to handle you new found stardom.

Buy a big house with a 12ft long dinner table made from Brazilian Rosewood.

Invite x-roomie over for a pool party with the Solid Gold dancers.

That said, unless you've already got a buyer lined up to pay more than $60 for a table with legs that are beat to hell, take the $30 or buy out his half if you are pretty certain you can sell it for more.

I wouldn't pay much more than $60 for a table in that condition. It's USED. And not gently, I might add, based on the scratches and gouges in the visible leg.

In short, do what you gotta do.

I'd just give it to him and take my half.  Let him do whatever wants with it.  Got your share of it.  If he sells it for 5 grand, great for him.  Other stuff to think about and put your energy into good sir.  imho

Is it just me or is that a really tacky table? I wouldn't pay $40 for that.
