I had a vision of this bike and its new owner visiting a certain cave in the future..

Prices are up in Seattle. That's not a bad price around here. Some 2007's have been going for nearly $4000!
$3000+ for an "F" is not uncommon.
I don't know who owns it or who is buying it.

Picked up a 1992 GS500E for $500 yesterday.  It's been sitting for 2 years and will not turn over.  I have the cylinders soaking in PB Blaster.  Bike is complete with normal wear for it's age.  I look forward to getting know folks here as I start my GS500 adventure.

Mine wasnt sitting that long, but I bought mine in December a few hundred miles on it this week already as I got it out last Sunday and officially Wednesday. Been very cold until recently so slow progress and no reason to wrap it up until now.

There are many here that will get you the info you need. Welcome!

I agree that prices seem to be up.

A couple specimens in my area. All seem a bit high-priced considering the obvious damage to each.

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/mcy/3725731896.html - 2007 faired - $2800

A few of those are a joke.. That '08 is priced at 3600. I don't care if it has 3k miles, that's really not a selling point. Only mentions cosmetics which should be flawless at that price.. and doesn't mention any services done... Tires are old, brake lines and fuel hoses need done at a minimum... Initial service done even? Just because he got it from a dealer doesn't mean they did any maintenance on it... They might put a new battery in it, but you can bet they didn't end up paying for it... Why would they do anything more than selling it when they'll get more when you return to pay for services it needs. There are other angles on this of course, but my point is that they don't end up paying for anything a bike needs. If it has to be done to sell it, it's in the price already and the new owner pays for it... If it can 'wait' the new owner pays for it later.

Others are just as bad with there pricing, but that was easiest to tear apart and there is more I haven't mentioned even... I just don't understand why people think this time of year fetches twice as much because I haven't seen em sell that high unless they are at a dealer because people must 'think' its a safer bet for used bikes?...

BBoy, I completely agree. Hence me calling them specimens rather than deals.

From what I've seen around here, people have no concept of what bikes are actually worth, or that there are actually blue book values for them based on mileage and condition. You should see what people are asking for their beat-to-hell 70's - 80's bikes that state in the ads that they don't run. :cookoo:

I actually saw the grey/black 2007 in that list this weekend. It was parked by the range at an MSF BRC course. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see/talk to the rider or hear it run, but it doesn't look any better in person than it does in the pics. What's funny/sad is that when I first saw this ad a few weeks ago, it said the ball was broken off the clutch lever. It has since been edited/reposted without that comment.

I was really looking forward to being a part of this forum however I think this bike is a little too small for me... Only had it a week. I also ran into a little financial trouble so this is my only option. I think it's a reasonable price... What do you guys think?

6'3" 230... I really need the cash hence the price. I bought it for less than that, so that should reflect the prices around here. I need the money bad so selling is my only option atm. It is a fun little bike and I don't really want to sell it, but it is what it is.

Worthg it for $500 for the engine alone.
Red thing on tank is probably the "Red Tag" indicating salvage only - no title.

Hey everyone,

I bought a 1989 off my brother in law a couple years ago, I got a good deal because it wasn't running.  I cleaned and rebuilt the carbs put new jets in, new fuel lines and new spark plugs and it ran perfectly. It has just over 13,000 km (8000 miles) on it, it has factory clip ons, brand new tires and I think my brother-in-law may have put a new rear sprocket on it too but I'm not sure.  It looks ugly with a non matching gas tank and cracked plastics and it has been dropped by some kids who pushed it down the street when it was parked by the house one night. Mechanically all it needs is a new choke cable and a new battery.  Cosmetically it needs a bit more.  I rode about 500 miles on it last year and had no issues with it.  I liked riding so much I went out and bought a Kawasaki Concours so I could go on some nice long trips and I don't have room for both bikes.  So I'm going to put it on craigslist, what would you sell something like this for? Do you think $1,200 is fair?

Thanks,
Berk
