far as i know ... unless you gonna break 10 secs you dont need leathers ... kevlar pants, jacket , helmet and gloves ... aint no way that bavarian tractor of yours is gonna break 10!!!!

slipperymongoose

Ill find a drag run vid

This bloke did a 12.2 first run so with some practice and soft tyres mid to low 11's would be achievable. Then with some power mods who knows. And if I drop 20kg then sheesh who knows then eh?

I was thinking more along these lines... its been up before but always good for a chuckle! ... and no i dont care about model designations... unless you talking S1000RR they are tractors!  :flipoff:

slipperymongoose

Yeah I seen that but lucky mine is chain drive hahahahahahahaha  :flipoff: :flipoff:

Here we go 11.5 stock. There's a longer vid where the drag a 1200gs and a s1000 too and the 800. So my Bavarian is nothing to be sneezed at

yeah ... admittedly they run good times... but the difference between 11.5 and 10 .. in the drag world... is a SHITLOAD!! .. just sayin...

so apart from work arvos .. you have no reason to miss the drags... want to see what a Slips can do for the 1/4 times!  :thumb:

Count me out on this drag-strip stuff...
Both my other bikes are bovine sleds too.
A fully dressed DL1000 and a bone stock Harley?

S L O W  wins the race mates.

BTW: Where the hell is Jester from Cincinnati?
He's a drag race guy.

Nope just lazy is what I am. And yes it is a huge leap in a car but a bike surely not? But hey what do I know? Not alot. But dropping into a high 10 wouldn't be that hard

Ummm..speaking of dragging, had a brake problem in the cage. Seems the drums were binding. Why this car still uses drums is beyond me. That's where I've been. Tending to the cage.

So many springs, gizmos, levers, leading this, return that.. Like the disc brakes better.

hmm .. ok im not a drag expert either slips.. but... 'most' street bikes at the end of a 1/4 .. are travelling 160-220 km/h? ... big variation but big difference in bikes available too! ... ok... you think how far you travel in 1 - 1.5 seconds at even 100km/h ... its gonna be about 27metres per second .. so at 200kph at a steady rate you travel 54metres roughly... or the length of a olympic swimming pool plus a little..

so .. if that bloke is doing a 1/4 mile in 11.5 seconds... to do it in 10sec or less means he has to make up 75 metres of change..... kinda... only that 27m/s @100k- 54m/s @200k is a value for average while moving... in a drag you have to start from a standstill and spend the first third(roughly) of the track at under 100km/h ...

gaining time on a bike or car still has to follow basic energy rules... (which i dont know squat about) ...

but an example... mate of mine has a Yammie R1 , 2011 model .. stock he ran a 11.72 (with good reaction time but newish to drags) .. a few months later and over $12k of 'power mods' later, he had gained about 18hp IIRC .. and with more practice at his reaction times and track technique .. ran a 10.68 .. he said it felt a hell of a lot faster.. and it looked a lot faster .. but only gained 1.04 seconds ... or around 60metres roughly?

thats with a R1 !! ... not hacking on your tonka ... which is still faster than all of 'our' GS500 .. but yes .. there is a LOT of work and such to be done with gaining time on a drag track .. or circuit track...  :D

and seeing as you mentioned it somewhere today... take note of OMT's drag times.... before and after he changed the pipes.... his reaction times and technique .. i know he is not a pro dragger .. just normal like you and i and the rest of us... really small errors can add up to relatively 'large' changes in 1/4 mile times.
