I need to lower the engine if I can otherwise take it out. I don't have a centerstand on my bike, but I do have 2x4's and a floor jack and maybe other stuff that could help. I'm trying to take out the head and cylinders so it only needs to be lowered a couple cm's if thats possible. I tried finding some tutorial or youtube video, but I was unsuccessful.

Hi there,
You do NOT have to remove or unbolt a GS500 engine to remove the head and cylinders from the bike.
They can be removed with the engine bolted into the frame.
You should look into a shop manual, because that's what it will tell you, too.
Good luck,

Really? I have tried to get the head over the long bolts for hours and could not get it over. And I do have manual I didn't realize it showed exactly how to take the engine out. Well I'd rather not take it out then if I dont have to. Is there a trick to getting it over those bolts?(the ones catching are the front left and right)

Hi again,
You should search the site.

Here is a prior post from someone doing the same thing as you.

Thank you, although that thread didn't help me get it off(a ratchet strap did), it gave me tons of info that I would have had a hard time putting this back together without. Thank you again for the help!!!
