Rode it a quarter mile to the gas station, found out the gas cap is stuck (key wont turn), rode it home and parked it. Had a pretty awful day and was hoping a nice ride could give me some therapy, but instead it was just the icing on the cake.

I need a beer.

Push down hard on the cap as you try to turn.  You can also try giving it a tap with a rubber mallet as you try to turn.

Took a ride over the weekend with the owner of my old 04 gs. Great ride through the old back roads we grew up on. We switched out leading a few times and kept a decent pace. Nothing too intense, but got to push the bt003 more than I have been. Enjoying every mile out there!

Installed new Daytona style handlebars, Bad Bot all in one compact airhorn, 1/4 fairing, PIAA Xtreme White H4 Headlamp, and have on order a 17 tooth countershaft sprocket, sport saddlebags, and Progressive fork springs.

Got the cap open, then off today. The locks were badly corroded, I had to use a hammer instead of a mallet. Got it all cleaned up, oiled, greased, and it works fine now.

Took it out for its first legal ,legitiment ride! Lovin it!

Re-assembled the original horn and re-installed tonight... amazingly enough it made a sound somewhat resembling a beep when I tried it briefly... will give it a proper try in the morning, bit late at night to be beeping a horn in the garage!

We all have a little troll in us all Pete. Be a rebel
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

When I was checking my oil today I noticed a damp spot on the top of my cylinder.  I think I've got a very minor weaping leak from my valve cover gasket.  At the end of the season I think I'll take it off to double check my shim job and replace the gasket, and clean all the exterior surfaces real well.

Old Mechanic

Replaced the dead illumination bulb in my tachometer on the 94 today. Didn't ride today, raining heavily now and rain was threatening earlier.

Finally bought the OEM bar ends for my 01. It had none so I'm happy to be replacing them :)

Haha yes true... got a few beeps in yesterday  :thumb:

So it now seems better than it used to be but no idea why  :dunno_black:

I also still have all my oil in the engine and not weeping down from the cam chain tensioner  :thumb:

Walked past mine with a box of goodies and managed to bump into it scratching the tail.  So cranky at myself right now!

Put about 220km's on it yesterday, perfect weather for a top ride  :thumb:

Cam chain tensioner still oil tight  :thumb:

Horn still working  :thumb:

Have discovered what looks to be a head gasket leak now  :technical:

Gonna give the head bolts a tweak down this week and see if that fixes it... otherwise the head's gotta come off next service...

Began my teardown to replace both sprockets, chain, rear shock, and fully detail the bike.  I should have done this sooner, but I was lazy.  There must have been about 100 o rings in the front sprocket cover, so I am glad I am doing this.

They all got the day off.
Frank's real, official title came in the mail today from the state. So he's 100% titled in Washington (frame came from Maryland and did a title transfer 3 weeks ago when the bike build started.)

Popped the valve cover off, gave the head nuts a tweak but could only really tighten about two of them, plus the upside down one on the front. Re-assembled, degreased and rinsed. I'm hoping that will be enough to stop the head gasket weep... at least the weep is so slight it didn't even register on the dipstick.
