Lotsa stuff started with a live round stuck in the chamber ended with a 4" group at 200m

Open sights, 107 year old barrel and first time shooting in 7 years I'm stoaked

I know it is, which is precisely why I haven't got one yet! Apart from the fact all I could afford would be a crappy sportco at the moment. In due time I reckon.

That's pretty damn cheap! And I would have thought an antique like that would have commanded pretty steep prices?

You get the ones with matching numbers in good condition can command a pretty penny but plenty are around for a fair price

I had my 1906 model with a tasco 3-9 scope on it .. 20mm group at 100 .. Just over 50mm at 200 ..

Bought it years ago for $150 ... Got $370 for it recently ..

We were the first team to get the Steyr rifles when they came out.

I was part of the 6 man recon team that was ordered to go home and pack to be shipped off to Iraq (Desert Storm)
Thankfully we were later told we were not going (dodged the bullet there)

Lol thats funny. Never had that problem. Up till now I had not heard that? Im so far out of the loop now

Had 2 cousins in ... One in mech inf at.... Gladstone? ... One in ... (Racks memory) .. Radar and comms at ... Sheesh .. Can't remember exactly .. It was a little west of Brissie somewhere .. I think?.

.. Anyway .. The first edition was a nice comfy synthetic blend... But IIRC a infantryman stumbled across a campfire up on one of the K exercise in NT and had his left leg trousers melt into his skin.... Which was a little late to test that function... They withdrew them from circulation and went to the cotton blend, not as breezy and light for hot weather but not likely to frag your skin .. But you can still sometimes find the dodgy ones in the disposal stores.. Though its been a while since I looked.

This was as mentioned to me by my cousins .. And my uncle who was a logistics planner in the RAAF ..

Probably the most info they ever mentioned about being in the job too!
