Hey knowles, I'm down just South of the metro.

Well it's been a while since I posted, my dad just passed away so motorcycles haven't exactly been high on my priority list.  *sigh*

I did manage to score a couple parts though.

A generic aluminum exhaust bracket (GSXR maybe?) on ebay for $12

I'll have to make a bracket for it but it will mount something like this.......

I also found a CBR1000 Hurricane hugger. I was looking for the 600 version since I was sure that would work but the 1000 also used a 130 rear tire so I took a chance since it was cheap.

There are acres of plastic that need to be removed until it looks "right" but I think it'll be a good starting point.

I also got the forks back together .... new upper bushings, OE seals, Progressive springs and 15wt oil with 110mm air gap. I'll post some pics when I get my fork brace back from the machinist.

Until then, ..... ride safe everyone

Well it's been a while  :dunno_black:

I did a rough chop on the hugger. Still need to smooth out the edges and paint it. What do you think? Still too big?

I was able to use the stock chain guard mounts on the left, I'll have to add a couple brackets on the right side though.

Question for you owners of newer GS's How do these fork protectors mount? (part #24) Is there a groove on the fork they snap into? Just wondering if I can use them on my older forks.

fleshpiston

Anyone have an answer to the question above?

åsaka

Shopping suggestions aftermarket type univerasl. chromium, graphite, carbon fiber looks.

adidasguy

#24 only fit on the newer forks. The tops of the tubes were modified to accept them.
Other option is to use gators.

Crap.  I thought about the gators but decided they might look too old school compared to the rest of the bike .... oh well.

Thanks for the reply!
