V&H exhaust clearance

Anyone have chain clearance issues? On Flick the center stand barely misses the chain. On the OEM exhaust there is a little rubber grommet that catches Center stand not on the V&H. Any ideas what I can do?

The V&H exhaust comes with a bracket that holds the center stand away from the chain. The previous owner of my bike did not install said bracket...

Though I seem to recall Buddha rigging up some sort of cheap fix.

Crudely put - A big chunk of car tire zip tied to the center stem of the center stand.

Cool.

Wasn't included. This will sound funny but I bought it from Harry Potter (forum name here). So, if anyone has contact with Harry Potter I want my piece!

adidas - needs to have a grommet somewhere @ contact point, else it clank on bumps. However never seen one like that, ever.

What is on Junior is all original V&H. Centuryghost helped install it on Junior when I got it (I was a newbee then). That's the way the come. No bumper. Junior is just fine. Maybe a clunk when you take him off the center stand, but that is OK. It doesn't clank on bumps because the center stand springs are so strong.

The muffler has to be off to install or remove that piece. Since it is on a center stand bolt, it would be an easy thing to forget to remove when you remove the muffler. One could be copied out of a piece of steel or do the buddha thing and use a big piece of rubber wrapped around it.

If a metal hunk is what you crave Dr Sharp (hey that sounds good) get a piece of angle and bolt it onto the lower shock mount bolt.
Far easier to take off and no need to pull the exhaust.
The center stand bolt on bikes that have some age (not your cherry, mint, bought new and never seen rain or mud, more like mine lying face down in the dirt for a decade types) tend to be galled and rust welded and what not ... the shock bolt will come off far easier. And no need to remove the hitch pin etc etc.
We've been hacking solutions to this almost as long as there has been a GS ... there is 400 options ...

After all of those ... a healthy chunk of car tire on the center stand is my preferred option after the original bracket off the exhaust. Its free - you just risk life and limb trying to get one off the side of the road.

If you were in AZ I would weld a chunk of metal on for you to gain clearance.  I'm breaking out the welder today for another little project...

If you know somebody with a welder and small steel scraps, your problem can be fixed really fast.

You guys are the best! I am applying to school so I can continue and get that "Dr" title. Don't know if I'm going to go full phd.. I have to take that danged GRE!!! Anyone can help with that too!

Hmmm, I have an idea! I have an old bicycle tire in the garage and I think cutting that and the inside diameter would be good for the center stand and a couple of zip ties. Yeah, think that will work!

I doubt anyone has the part. It's the thing people would forget to take off when they remove the exhaust.

I could measure the part as it is on Junior and probably someone could cut one out of flat steel and put the bend in it.

Bicycle tar not fat enough.
Car tar at a minimum. Literally you gotta get one off those shredded carcasses you find off the side of the road and cut it with tin snips.
