We had some strong winds today and unfortunately my bike got blown over... Twice. The first time it fell onto another persons bike and put a hole in his seat. He put my bike back upright and my bike got blown over again, this time breaking my mirror, blinker, and handle bars, and scratching up my exhaust and engine case. Is it my fault that my bike fell onto his and should I offer to switch him seats? He has a gs500f too.

Eh, if he's a good human being, he'll probably be upset at the situation, but not you. It's not like it's your fault the wind picked up. If you have the cash, and he's a nice, honest guy, or a friend, it may not be a bad idea to offer to help him find another seat. If he's not a friend, he very well may be if you offer to help. Everyone likes new riding buddies, right?

You can always find good used parts around here. The For Sale section is great.

That's just my $.02.

Accidents happen but your bike is your responsibility, i would offer......the rest is up to him.

Since it was blown over by the wind, it is not your fault and each person (or their insurance) is responsible for the damage to their bike.  If there was negligence on your part (e.g. not correctly seating the side-stand) you would be responsible.  If somebody kicked your bike and it fell onto another bike, that person would be liable for the damage to both bikes.

Take for example a neighbor's tree limb falls on your car during a storm.  If the tree was healthy then each party takes care of their own damages.  If the tree was sick/dead and the owner did not have it taken down/trimmed he would be liable due to negligence (especially if he was informed that it was a hazard).

It seems to me that if you are responsible for his seat, then he is responsible for your damage? I would say you each pay for what happened to your own bikes. Who parked first?

agree with the act of GOD part. if both of yall parked properly then each handles his or her own . was this in relation to the storm that came through Europe recently? not sure of your location im sorry. but in that case, oye no matter what, stuff would get moved by wind lol.
