When they stop making it..... Or ... If the bike suffers a sudden catastrophic failure that is directly and solely attributed to e10 ....

....

Slips doesn't worry me .... He's like one of those 'guard' Pomeranian dogs that old ladies keep in their houses.... Lot of barking and eyeball action happening ... But offer only a serious threat to your shoelaces!  :flipoff:

oh just to be clear also... not having a go ... im not using e10 'to save the planet' or 'be politically correct/toe the global warming line' ... or even to help the farmers that produce the stuff that makes the ethanol ...  fark all of that!!

a: because i can! .. and its entertaining watching everyone wave their particular 'flag' about it ..  :flipoff:

b: because it is cheaper by several cents at times (where i fill up) .. and even though its only a few bucks... i NEED those bucks right now/this year !!  :icon_rolleyes:

c: because everyone i actually ask in person says "well 'they' say its bad for engines"  :technical: who the frag is 'they' ??  :technical: .. one bloke showed me 'damage from using ethanol' ... which looked just like 'damage from anything else possible'  :dunno_black:

d: because im running my own 'test' with it and have suffered no problems so far! .. it 'feels' smoother riding? .. subjective - i know!

e: because i ran it on nothing but 98 for a year too .. and noticed only a 'slight' improvement over standard non ethanol fuel - subjective again  :icon_mrgreen:

f: because ... every 'independant' study i HAVE seen .. is either pro or anti backed/funded at some level .. but i dont really give a crap what the study says when with my own eyes and brain i can detect no 'bad' from using it... that may be to come, but i'm likely to try and find 'ethanol rated' seals/rings/lines etc AND STILL use it!  O0

I run 95, 98 tends to foul my plugs in traffic. 91 pings when she gets nice and hot.

E10 is supposedly less economical and saps some power... but I can't comment as I've never used it...

Here in the USA you use ethanol or risk imprisonment.
We are introducing the forced use of E15 and the AMA is fighting it based on engine damage.

I despise the government....   :2guns:  NOT the fuel it self.

yeah .. havent noticed it though  :dunno_black: ... not in the gs500! ... the power is the power! ... i never noticed a huge difference from 95 to 98 to e10 .. the economy?? .. umm... it still seems to give me the same amount of kms per tank... which is hard enough to quantify since im not slabbing/commuting/hyper-miling anyway... the economy varies with my wrist twist!?

i could dyno it .. a nodding aquaintance does have a bike dyno ... but havent bothered so far... the bike still puts out enough smooth usable power to keep me happy... whatever the level of it is...  :icon_mrgreen:

maybe next year when some debts are done .. and the youngest daughter will probably want to ride the GS .. (she indicated a keen interest in a bike licence recently  :D :thumb: ) ... then i'll just have to go out and get myself another bike i think! ... Yamaha MT09 :icon_twisted:

then i will be able to try a ride with more and different type of power ...  O0

I've just bought a nice new Yamaha FZ1S. It is just a little bit quicker than the GS. 150hp vs 44hp might have something to do with that.
Wherever you may be, there you are.
