I had someone come and look at my Gs for a possible sale and he pointed out that I have a oil leak I checked it out and noticed that there is oil slowly but definitely leaking from between where the exhaust headers attach to the engine. Any idea why that's happening and any possible solutions? Thanks in advance -NEWBIE-

The closest seam to that area would be where the cylinder body meets the cylinder head. There is a gasket in that seam that has been known to fail over time.

As long as the issue is just the gasket, it is a $30 part and the rest of the effort is you taking apart the upper half of the motor.

Sounds extremely risky for a novice to try to fix

the mole

It is.

Unless you have prior experience in dismantling and successfully rebuilding motors, I wouldn't tackle this as a first project.

Any alternatives?

I hate to suggest this, but if the repair is needed to make the sale, you can use something like AutoRX which is designed to gradually stop oil leaks. You'll have to use it according to directions and that would mean riding the bike for some time to cycle it throughout the engine.

... if selling it... give the seller (when they mention it) .. the oil leak discount .. $50 .. let them know the gasket is $30 and 'a bit for the repair time' .. ???

"it hasnt really bothered me sir, the gasket was going to be a winter tidy up job .. but if it bothers you then take $50 off .. thats fair!" ..  ;)
