Does anyone know of a (easy/cheap) solution to make the rear mud guard better to protect the swing arm assembly from dirt?

Maybe some advice for the front one as well.

For the rear: Original unmodified fender + rear hugger. Someone else can chime in on what is the easiest rear hugger to get your hands on.
Front: Fender extender. Th early years had them. For later years you can drill holes and mount the original Suzuki extenders. There are also carbon fiber versions on ebay.

Someone at the Bike Cave used a piece of plastic cut from an oil jug to extend the inner fender down to cover the gap.
Free and easy to do.
Cut plastic and bolt to front of inner plastic fender.

Yeh, you're spot-on there, Redmark. Bit of sloppy design there. Be good to stop so much sludge getting up and lodging in and around the swing-arm mechanism. Been meaning to do something simple to my bike there for years. Think you've got me around to doing it. (Soon as I finishing building my new bookcases, of course....does the domestic work neeeeeeeever end?)

Sounds like something to do on a Sunday. I'll give it a wash tomorrow.
