Hey Yama,
Where is that thread where we were discussing your health and such?
You know... Complete with toe pictures?
Seems I lost it!

Found some cash to ride like a madman
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Ok I love my new tyres... Avon Roadriders... the size is better and the front is more planted now, but they do ride softer than the Sport Demons too which is interesting... I'm still a fan of the Demons though, just wish they came in a slightly smaller size!

Short but awesome ride on Saturday, perfect weather  :thumb: :woohoo:

EJ!!!!!!?????! ... Don't get him going on the Katanas again!! ... It takes friggin days to calm him down!!  ;) :flipoff: :icon_confused:

peteGS

Hahahahahahahahaah too late Janxy!!!!

EJ, one on the right with Ohlins has BST carbon wheels as well, out somewhere around 1260cc from memory... his goal is under 200kg's fueled up ready to roll and he's not far off it... hollow axles, titanium bolts, etc. He's keen!

The other Kat looks stock but has Hayabusa pistons and is at about 1360cc. Get it up to 6K RPM and man she goes hard! He's working on fuel injection for it slowly, still running carbs at the moment. The guy with the Kat on the right has one of the first GSXR1000's (about 2000 year model I think) and the hot rod Kat keeps it honest in the first three gears... not bad for an '82 model bike!

When I do get my Kat eventually I hope to follow in the hot rod footsteps... cosmetic restore with a hot rod motor  :thumb:

Oh, and the bear... he's "Stator"... GS Resources mascot doing the world tour...

So peteGS, what particular year/model Katana were the sweet ones?

Hahahahah ... Pete said swing a leg over ....  :icon_eek: :icon_rolleyes: .... Damn .. Now I'm encouraging him!  ;)

peteGS

Hahahahaha well you asked for it! Hahaah... For me it's the 1984/5 1100 in the two tone maroon and silver, but the original 1982 1100 is probably the most popular.

There is a big following of the SXZ wire wheels ones and lots of debate as to whether they are special or not.

The 1984/5 750 pop ups have a decent following but tend to be referred to as not "real" Katana's by the most fanatical of the cult followers...

Of course the modern "Katana's" in the US market are by no means true to the original Katana and therefore tend to be scorned....

There was a "Katana" scooter released in Asia somewhere too, best not to comment on how that was received...

Yes. I only was aware of the recent US market Katana with the fancy fairings and such.

An old-school, big displacement, parallel-4 can get ya' into trouble.  :nono:  :icon_mrgreen:

Its always a good thing if you have a bike that actually starts & runs.

Just imagine the shock and trama I had to go through when I switched from a GS500 to a DL1000.
Which in all honesty, starts rather well... Keeping the top-heavy sow running for very long is the real trick.
