So I have put around 380 miles on my bike in the past few days and when starting the bike to head to work yesterday morning I noticed, a little after the fact that there was fuel on my garage floor. Looks like it was from the air box. I know this is a sign that a float is sticking, but while at work there is no over flow or issues. Any ideas? Could it be the petcock is screwed up? Oh and one more thing does anyone know where to buy just a fuel bowl? Mine was haggard and had it sealed back up as there was a crack but would like to have one that is actually in good condition. Dont leave in prime.
And when its leaking - to see if it stops leaking, shake the bike on center stand ... a jerky shake could get it un stuck whe nits stuck.
If it continues to over flow into the airbox, you may have a bad float O ring or a bad float needle.
Its not the float bowl itself, or its gasket. Cos then it will be on top of the motor under the carb not in the airbox.

Oh it wasnt left in prime. it was just on on. I am going to be ordering a onda cf petcock I think..I have never had a bike that had vacuum stuff before..and I dont like it

2 of my bikes have a vacuum petcock. I like not having to worry about shutting off fuel. Just need to replace that o-ring once in awhile.

In my opinion the vacuum petcock is more of an annoyance than a convenience.  I bought my bike with no petcock and just an inline on/off valve, was thinking of changing it to the stock setup but figured it wasn't worth the trouble or cost and just kept it as is.  I don't forget to turn the fuel off, and I don't need to worry about vacuum issues or membrane breakdown that can cause issues.

What o-ring are you referring to?  There is no rebuild kit available for our petcocks.  There have been reports of fuel starvation at higher speeds due to the vacuum petcocks, and also problems like the OP in this thread with fuel overflowing even though the petcock is set to "ON". 

I personally didn't want to try to chase down all those issues when I was fixing everything else that was wrong with my bike, so I went to the 07 Honda CRF250X non-vacuum petcock and have never looked back!

The reason they leak is the small o-ring deteriorates. The one when you pull the diaphragm and spring. I can get the number to order from McMaster Carr when I get home if you want it. A few bucks for a 5 pak. 5 minute change-out. If the diaphragm has holes, that prevents gas from flowing. Haven't had that happen to any bike myself.

Just for an added reference guys, another member recently found a petcock diaphragm replacement available separately.  He found a petcock repair kit for a Bandit 1200, and noted that the diaphragm worked.  I am unsure if the rest of the kit worked such as the orings, but the diaphragm did.  I haven't seen anyone source these parts separately before that post, so most would replace the entire petcock, or swap with something else without a vacuum.  The part number is K&L 18-5023.

I haven't seen anything in the way of a rebuild kit for the '89-'99 petcocks, and I don't think the newer petcock fits without modification due to changes to the way it mounts.  Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Maintenance is not the issue for me, having to maintain something like a fuel petcock though is something I rather not deal with. Valves fine, bearings fine, tires well that is a given, but fuel petcock? No thank you. So does anyone know where to get a new or used fuel bowl?

Ah, yes good point Bomb. I just read the bit about petcock parts and didn't realize we may be talking earlier model.  I haven't seen anything for those yet.  I have also read that the newer petcock doesn't fit earlier models without modification on the frame for mounting.
