Fork Seal Circlip - what diameter?

First post - woo!

I picked up a 1993 GS500E a few weeks ago for pretty cheap, and she needs work.  Carbs are cleaned and waiting on parts, and that part order includes new fork seals and dust wipes.  But not new spring clips, because my buddy told me not to bother, which was apparently not a good call, because mine are mostly rust. :P (I think he'll owe me a beer for that one)

I've read somewhere - though I can't find it - that you can instead use a regular circlip; does anyone happen to know what diameter of circlip I need?

Thanks!
I know a little bit about a lot of things - usually just enough to be dangerous.

Never mind - just ended up de-rusting my existing ones, and I'll order some proper replacements next time I tear the forks apart.
