Fender "Trim"

Not sure if something like this was posted before, but I was looking for a solution to the big plastic fender thing in the back of my 2007 F. I wanted something budget friendly and easy to do, without resorting to integrated taillights (the rear signals are LED on my bike and are super bright -- I don't feel like skimping out on safety). Attached is a picture of my solution. All I needed was a dremmel (rotary) tool and some measuring tape. I relocated the reflector and trimmed off the excess. Now the rear profile is much more aesthetically pleasing! It only took about an hour of my time (most of the time buffing the plastic to make the cut less harsh) and costed nothing lol. Just thought I'd put this out here as an alternative to a full fenderectomy/integrated taillight set-up.

Yep. That's known around these parts as a "fenderectomy". It's really the only option, as there's no fender elimination kit for our bikes. It definitely looks good, though!

That does look good!  Woohoo for pics and for sharing!  I went one step further with mine and mounted (shorter gsxr) signals up on the rear fairings when I first got my bike.  I agree with ya lynx, I like having bigger/separate signals too... some people can't see ANYTHING, lol !!

Sure! It was pretty simple tho: I used a small T-Square to draw a straight line across the excess plastic and used a rotary tool to slice through the plastic. Then used a few foam buffing attachments to clean up the cup (optional). Next, I drilled a small hole in the center just above the plate to re-mount the reflector that was all the way at the bottom of the plastic (also optional). Depending on how much of a perfectionist you are this could take u anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, but no more than that. (and believe me I'm not much of a wrench monkey lol)

Thanks! :) It's good to see someone out there has similar views, here in NJ, drivers wont see you even if uve got a flashing billboard back there hehe, I'm not gonna lesson my chances. However, I do wanna change the front signals to flush-mount LED ones, with as little drilling as possible. Anyone know of a good (budget friendly) kit?
