Ok I'm done banging my head against this wall...

Needles cannot physically be lifted any further and still she stumbles and hesitates when cracking the throttle!!!

These diaphragms just aren't right for these carbs so now I can commute but no weekend fun... dammit all to hell and back!!!

Time to find out engine side diameter and carb spacing and see what's available to replace them with, so over it...

Someone's having a bad day!

As for me... man I'm a noob... noob noob noob!!!!!

I had trouble rolling the diaphragms when I installed them and thought it was only to make installation easier...

Read this and see how much of a frickin noob I am!!!!

What's to bet when I get back in there tonight and do that it all works perfectly... except she'll be too rich for my dodgy arsed attempts at fixing my noobishness...

Actually PeteGS,
The awkward feeling your experiencing is just "noobness" leaving your body on a ship called The SS Stupidity.

I have occasionally gone back and read my own tech threads from several years ago and it makes me feel like a full blown moron.
As I said in an earlier post; Once you get this carb issue ironed out, you will be at a place called "perfection" and it's a damn nice feeling!
BTW; are you getting tired of inhaling gasoline fumes every night yet?

Well... the long and short of it is that these diaphragms will never work in these stupid damn carbs!!!!

I remember now why I didn't roll them the first time... as soon as you let the slide drop into the carb they unroll and pop up, that's it! There is no full on recess like the carb on their Youtube video shows, just a shallow groove and it does not hold the diaphragm in place to stop it unrolling.

I believe everything they have on their website is correct and that with the more common BS34's around the place, the diaphragms will be good, but these stupid damn carbs are just so weird that nothing works... so I'm done with them.

On the hunt for new carbs...  :technical: :technical: :technical:

Excellent choice Janx!
But he's running a "two" cylinder bike so obviously he's going to need "twin" Holly Dominators.

And PeteGS...
I'm thinking that gravity feed may not work so plan on buying a fuel pump too. A big fuel pump.  :thumb:

Hahahaha nice guys!

I had one last ditch attempt last night of propping the slides up while installing them but no go, still not gonna work.

A pair of 01 GS500 carbs have popped up locally so if my questions get answered that could be the solution.

Just gotta figure out how the choke goes on those puppies and what jetting I need to do... oh and tempted this time to ditch the pods in favour of stacks... given that in theory these should be better carbs to work with in terms of jetting then it should be a better solution all 'round...

I'm sure I see Katana lines in there somewhere...  :icon_lol:

01 model GS500 carbs purchased and a set of cams from the same bike, so I'll be doing some upgrading  :icon_mrgreen:

He says he has a choke cable so that should solve that.

Need to get me some pilot and mid main jets as I already have mains that will fit, and some air filters... then it's fun time!
