I'll have no idea what piece you're referring to unless you include one of the following: Doobly doo, thing-a-ma-jigger, or dibbledy dop.

axexandru

Yes it is.
Your turn mennobike :)

I'm going to be way out in the boonies until friday away from the internet, so I'm going to send janx the answer and one more picture to put up if nobody gets it right off.

I am going to guess emergency blanket, or inflatable pool toy

Iarn

It's really dark for me. Hard to make out what I'm looking at.

axexandru

I think bluesmudge got it with emergency blanket. Let's see :D

Pocket size weather balloon!  :cookoo:

Hmmm close enough for me.. emergency 'space' blanket! .. don't think the whole world calls them space blankets just emergency blankets.  The 'Space' thing was one of the early marketing ploys, when everyone had to have space stuff cos it was ultra cool! , space food sticks, astronaut (dehydrated) ice cream etc!.

Speaking of drying things out, Yankees have developed dehydrated/powdered booze?! Just add water!? Amazing things people think of!!

...anyway. . Take it away Smudge!

I have no ideea what that is, but .. do you use it with a plumb line?

I'm hoping its a navigation beacon for Sharks with a fricken Laser on their head!!

Iarn

That's a great picture. Lots of little hints inherit in it. Still can't figure out what it is.

Nope.

As a hint, you would only use this outside.

Elmojo

Man, this is a tricky one!
The level bubble tells us it's made to operate flat like it sits in the photo.
The 'window' appears to be mirrored. Can't figure out the pattern in the lens yet...
That looks like a Walnut body, possibly hand made.
Any of this help anyone?  :dunno_black:

The object is inside in the picture, Elmojo. I see what looks to be a cabinet/cupboard. A printer or a cash register, and some other nic-nacs in the reflection. Rotate the picture 90 degrees and you see it more easily.

I see how the thing I thought was a tweeter speaker is a level, like you said. I still have no idea what it could be...

Bluesmudge

That is a bubble level, because it is indeed intended to be operated flat.

I will admit that this is a hard one, as it is fairly specific to my industry. Let me know when I should give another hint.

For astronomy?

Is it a device used to map the night sky? Works via reflection and you use those little square quadrants engraved on it to map areas more accurately or something?
