Hi. My headlight stopped working recently. When I switch it on low beam it stays off but the main beam warning light illuminates. If I switch to main beam, still no headlight just the warning light. I know the bulb is good. ( It's a '99 ex ) I've been riding through heavy rain a lot lately could this be it ? Cheers for any ideas guys. >:(

First off: I assume that "over there" you refer to the "High" beam as the "Main" beam?
So neither beam works, but the main beam indicator is always on? interesting. . .
Where was your bike originally sold? If I remember right the wiring harnesses are slightly different US vs Europe vs Australia

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Hi. As far as I know it was originally sold in the u.k. And yeah high beam is main beam. Gonna look for corrosion in the switches this weekend but apart from that I'm at a loss. Cheers jim. :technical:

Looking at the wiring diagram, the low beam never interacts with the high beam warning light. The closest it ever comes is in the high/low dimmer switch and the wires coming out of that switch. My guess is that your low beam is shorting out in the switch through your high beam indicator light.

Check the switches for anything that could be causing a short. Also check the wiring harness coming out of the switch for exposed wires/missing insulation.

Yeah I think you could be right. cheers man.
