How long was your bike sitting? Sounds like one or both of the pilot jets in your carbs may be clogged. That's not a rebuild, just a cleaning.

not sure i just bought it guy got it from his brother its only got 1100 miles on it so does that tell you its been sitting a lot through its life..... is there a way to clean them without taking it all the way off???

I had the same problem. Does it cough right before dying? Mine still coughs a bit but not to the point of stalling. Try tweaking around with the mixture screw on the carburetor where is sounds like the cough is coming from. But I do recommend you rebuild the carbs because you don't know how long it's been sitting around.

Man I worry about this post!
You have a virtually NEW bike in terms of mileage. In order to give some sort of diagnosis we'd need more information. For example you say it's been sitting around for most of it's life, but you don't tell us what year it is, so it could be a 26 year old 1989 model or a 1 year old 2014 model... it makes a difference!!!
Have you run it? have you run it hard? Have you given it a chance to clear out any old claggy old stale fuel? How did it go? How much have you run the bike?
Does it have the coughing symptom when it's hot, cold, or both?
What's this 'sea foam stuff' you put in the tank?
You may have stuffed things up by playing with the idle screws without knowing what you're doing. (The idle screws need to be adjusted in conjunction with the pilot mixture screws).
Don't just assume that you need to rebuild the carbs at this stage.
We need more info. Avoid tweaking around with the mixture or idle (tickover) screws unless you understand what you're doing, it's likely that you'll end up with a worse running motor.
Just a little tip which is REALLY easy to try. An off-idle cough will be due to either a rich or more likely lean mixture in the transition between the pilot jet stage and the needle jet stage, (In a bike that's not near new I would also point to the throttle valve (slide) cutaway, but it's unlikely that yours is non-original) - you can experiment with the choke lever to give an indication. For example, if the 'cough' is a little better if you have a little choke applied, it's an indication that the mixture is a shade lean.
I think that you're more likely to have a lean mixture, possibly caused by old gummy fuel partially blocking a carb drilling/jet, or an air leak in the inlet system (pretty unlikely with a near new bike).

Beam me up Scottie....

joolstacho its a 2007 with 1168 miles on it i have riding it enough when i bought it i rode it 130 home ran fine then it got to where it it had to have the choke engaged to run due to fouling of the plugs

I havent rode it but about 200 miles i have ran a tank and a half through it the sea foam stuff is to ungum the carb and clean out any nasty fuel stuck in  it previous owner plugged the drain hose from the carb for an unknown reason ... when its sits over night my garage smells of gas very strong unsure if floats are sticking or needles are gummed up

You have a garage, so you have the space. It only takes a few basic tools to remove the carbs and clean them.
Here are a few good pages to get you started. Let us know if you have any questions along the way.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Suzuki Stevo

If you end up going into the carbs and your bike is a US model you might as well swap out the #17.5 pilots for #20 pilot jets and the #130 mains for #132.5 main jets. The US models are notoriously lean to appease the EPA Gods..you can safely assume that the manufacture took a good thing and then leaned it out for emissions.
