Nah... that's just bloody Queenslanders for ya! .. no finesse! No gentle easing or gear pullers!  ... just burn a lug on there and rip the thing off.... wouldn't be surprised if he chained the bloody thing to a 4wd and let it rip! ;) ...

Bloody Queenslanders!

Bahahahahahaha :thumb:

Electrojake

Yeah, that's some serious sh!t right there. Thank goodness he's not a dentist.  :icon_rolleyes:

On the positive side; It did get the sprocket off.

Lol yes... desired result acheived!

Unconventional gear pulling method, cotton. We'll see how it behaves when he throws the gear back on!  :thumb:
I'll have no idea what piece you're referring to unless you include one of the following: Doobly doo, thing-a-ma-jigger, or dibbledy dop.

peteGS

Finesse? What the hell does that mean? Hahaha... bloody Mexicans!!!

And speaking of a lack of finesse... I reckon someone ran the Kat motor with a loose cam chain... split the cases last night and found where the little broken bits came from... cam chain guide holder in the lower crank case is smashed. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix... the holder itself is cheap at least.

At least the rest looks clean  :thumb:

Doctor? Me? Hahahaha there's a scary thought! Queensland Health would probably employ me though...

I think we have a plan to fix that broken post too  :thumb:

And it looks like the head has been ported and the valve guides cut for much smoother flow in there... could be a bonus right there  ;) :D :woohoo:

Now that's scary right there!!!! Imagine waking up to that on a dark and stormy night...

Motorcycle engine archaeologist... I like it  :D

Heading out for a ride this morning, hopefully there will be lots of discussion on all things Kat related... in particular whether all my pistons are within the service limit or if I need to go up a size... and how to address that broken post with a suitable permanent non-dodgy fix  :thumb:

1.) If there's no actual damage, life will be a kinder place if you avoid a boring and re-use the old pistons.

2.) Broken post?  :dunno_black:

My hope at the moment is that the bores and pistons are still well within spec so a hone job is all that's required. Any more is going to push the budget up and time frame out which is frustrating at the very least...

Broken post... yeah there's a holder for the chain guides in the lower crankcase under the crank. Something has happened that smashed it and took out one of the mounting posts. Looks like it should be a fairly straight forward fix though. The holder is dirt cheap too fortunately.
