The GS comes with the round ones. Hex ones were sent to me which I installed. Should they be interchangeable? :dunno:

How does the bike run? If the threads are the same, and the seat accepts the small hex, and the bike runs fine, you're ok. The only thing I can think of that may be different is the length, but how that affects fuel delivery, i don't know.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

So far the motor has a flat spot from 6,000 to 8,000. Threads in fine. I'll have to check length again. I think it's close. If it extends too low in the float bowl, I suppose it could impede the flow.

Which jets did you recieve? Large hex or small hex?

If small, it looks like they fit the same needle and have the same range of sizes. I may have some at home and I will check at lunch.

Biggest question is how does the bike run?
Common sense in not very common.

OK the hex ones may be interchangeable, but no one has tried it. Little round and big round mikini's are interchangeable... In fact by some neat accident, I have got a good running virago 535 with little round keihein jets in it... and I believe its a couple sizes off the right mikuni size. So It might be OK, or might be a couple sizes off. To be sure, try the right round ones.
Cool.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to pull it apart again tonight after buying either 130 or 132.5 mains. They might even be the small round now that I think about it. Seems like I used the screwdriver rather than wrench on them.

The small round ones are what DJ sells to put in them. I have used 127.5 large rounds in the GS with airbox K&N and pipe. They should be the same, but you never know.... OK I never know, I'll let someone that knows post. BTW Keihein also has the little rounds, and the shops sometimes confuce them, which is exactly how I ended up with Keihein's in a mikuni carb. So to be sure they are mikuni's, get large round ones. keihein has a little thread off set with mikuni, and they seem to get tighter in the last 1/2 turn before bottoming out, while mikuni's will thread in and bottom out wihtout getting tight till then. If I were you, I'd get 127.5 large rounds and try that.
Cool.

Chaparral did send me the wrong jets. I checked the invoice. They are the small round mains. In comparing small rounds to large rounds the orifice is the same size, but the fuel metering would be way off due to the inside taper for the needle being very different. I ordered two sets of large round mains. 127.5 and 132.5 also, just to be sure. They'll be here Thursday for another try.

The local bike shop mechanic said the hex and round jets are not interchangeable. In looking at the small and large round, I wouldn't recommend interchangeing them either. :nono:

Yes that shop dude's dont think anything is interchangeable... I am certain the 3 will all interchange, they might be a size or 2 off in the metering. Small and large will interchange... DJ gives you small, but taper and flow may be a bit off, the DJ 134 may actually flow like a 130 or 140 large... who knows.
Cool.

You may be right Srinath. Varying the size slightly might compensate on the metering. Looking inside the two types(large and small) they are very different. I've got the 127.5 Large on order. :thumb:
