Hey!

I'm Geoff from Nova Scotia, Canada. Currently a student.

Got a steal of a deal on a 2007 GS500F last year and haven't looked back. Love the bike, just currently waiting for the warm weather to break her out.

Hey all, 28 year old Army vet, full time student, and full time assistant manager at a local motorcycle parts and accessories store in the greater Washington DC area. I picked up a very bad shape '96 a week ago. (free ) Didn't run. Now it doesn't run well. ordering new parts here and there and hopefully doing the whole cafe thing. My main ride is usually a '03 chopped up v-star 1100. Got this bike as a side project and hopefully get my wife on it. Of course, if she doesn't take to it that means i'll just have two bikes all to myself!

Hi, My daughter picked up a 2001 GS500 about 4 years ago.  I have been lurking and learning since then as I seem to inherited the mechanic role for this bike.

The bike lives mostly in Ottawa, I am in London and am moving to Mtl.

Fun little bike and a great bike for learning that can carry you a long way.

This is a wicked form and the folk that participate are a wealth of knowledge.   keep it up.

Waddup fools.  My name is Chris, 25 from Georgia.  Just got a 1999 GS500E from a buddy and I want to start fixing it up and learn how to ride.  Did my msf a few weeks back and have my motorcycle endorsement on my license.  I just need gear and insurance.  Also, does Buddah still do the carb repair stuff?

Soooo... I'm back. I had a GS500 for a while that I lent to a buddy, who then helped me to sell it to a guy in Statesboro. I hope that little GS500 is still going strong. Moved on to an SV650 for a while, then sold it and have been without a bike for several years. Some things happened and I have my older brother's GS500 that has been sitting for a while. Took the tank off to clean out the rust and took off the carbs to clean them. Hope to have the bike running within the next few weeks and then I'll start replacing any other worn parts that need attention.

Hi all

New here but have been lurking for some time. From San Diego CA

G.Rossman

Just picked up a GS500F yesterday.  Looking to use it as I learn to ride and then maybe turn it into a cafe style bike.  I'm told it needs a battery that it will run fine but has to be jumped.  Once I get it running w/o issue I'll start working on the rest.  It only has just over 6k miles on it but the first owner didn't take good care of it.  The chain looks rusty so I may just replace it.  I did find some surface rust on the swing arm area and a few other places, I'm thinking of using the Por 15 pre treat and then pulling the fairings for better access and using Por 15 on it to coat it and seal everything up.  It has a few bumps and bruises from drops, fairings I am not worried about but the right peg had been bent and was put back so I may just replace it and it also needs a right side mirror for sure.  The frame coating around the peg that was bent cracked and has a bit of surface rust so I am going to peel/chip it back and coat it as well.  I'm hoping there is no dent to the frame work.
