I've been looking to get a GS500 for a while and I think I found a decent deal. What do you guys think?

What do you think about the price? Condition? Miles?

He also says that he did the following mods:
Better horn with relay
Main headlight bulb upgraded
LED brake light
Tires are around 2 years old w/ ~1000 mi

That looks like a decent deal. I paid the same for a '99 a couple months ago. I really wanted a blue one like that though.

With 27k miles, it looks like he rode it a bunch, and took care of it. That's a good thing. Seems like a fair deal, I would have jumped on it if it was in my area when I was shopping.

These are just my newb thoughts though, I sort of know what they are going for around here, and that seems like a pretty good price.

Both look pretty good on paper.  One thing that concerns me about the first bike is the odd loops of red electric wires near the hand grips.   If those are for the horn then you should probably clean up that installation.

With any used bike you must check it thoroughly before you ride it regularly.  Check the torque on the Suspension joints and on axles and fork triple clamps.  Check that the wheel bearings run smoothly.  Adjust the steering stem bearings.  Check the  tension and condition of the chain and sprockets. Check the slack in the clutch, choke, and throttle cables.  Check that all the hand controls and lights function.  Check the front and back brakes are firm.  Check the thickness of the front and rear brake pads.  Check the condition of the tires.

Keep all those things on good working order and your bike should ride smoothly and predictably.  Don't trust that the previous owner did the maintenance properly.  In fact, you'll most likely find that yew previous owner botched a bunch of stuff.  Be paranoid when it comes to your motorcycle.  Trust no one.  Someone on this board crashed their motorcycle the day he bought it due to a snapped chain getting looped around the rear sprocket

If he had inspected the condition and tension of the chain he might have avoided wrecking his bike on the same day he bought it.

I'd say both of those prices sound reasonable, for sure!

I like how in the second link, the seller explained why he's looking to sell the bike. Sure he could be lying because that's what sellers do sometimes but I didn't get that vibe from his reason.

I kinda agree with Lucas almost to a t. But keep this in mind . its 15yo. Although battery is stated to be new, could be a mediocre battery new. Plus almost 30k miles if I read correctly. Have it inspected by a neutral 3rd party. Stated it passed inspection, inspections CAN be cheated ;)id also run a title search . gauge pod CAN BE switched. If that 27k mi. Wasnt roughly ridden , id say it would be worth it. Specially with summer season at hand. The F can be converted to an E with relative ease. Tires are also 2yo. But she doesn't look like a 15yo moto either. That's a plus. See if they might be flexible on price. Never hurts to ask Eh?

I'm not so sure about a GS being "too big" for anyone, but who am I to say? I'm also not so sure about 60-70 MPG on the 'E...

I recently purchased my '09 F for $1,700, but that's before it started getting warm around here. These both appear to be pretty good deals on nice bikes.

60-70mpg MAYBE..... but youd have to play with the gearing on the final. it would be a bit of a slug out of the hole. idk. im a tad uncertain on the E price. see if there might be some wiggle room.
