Hi guys! OKs, so here is my GS500e story!

firstly before I forget!

How would I test the vacuum line that runs off the carby to the fuel tap? If I just slapped a gauge on it while its running on prime, would that be correct? and if so, what would a correct reading be??

I have a few gremlins in my 93 gs500e atm, and im trying to go through them 1 by 1.

buying story) Test rode the bike and all was sweet, hence purchasing it, the next day I fuelled her up with a plastic can the seller provided (bonus) then two streets from home she died. (later to find out from the seller, old old fuel- 6 plus months in an open car port - yay)

0) drained tank and carbies.
1) Can start after a lil while and runs, will run for a couple streets then die (suspect fuel starve). carbs removed cleaned re done vacuum line
2) If then put to prime, will run, but under powered / half power. pulled fuel tap etc cleaned replaced diaphragm
3) Once when it was running good (once) it would have split second hesitations. got replacement second hand coils

after all this, still not playing ball, with all mentioned issues still present.

SOOO im starting again, must have missed something. So current focus, vacuum from carby to fuel tap thingy.

If I still have no luck over the next week or so, I mite just send it to a shop, have a good one lined up.

Have you tried opening the cap on your fuel tank to see if that will let fuel into the carbs?

I am not an expert, I just saw this recommended here when someone was having the same type of issue.  :D

So I've had a win!! After removing the tank and carburettors again, re-cleaned everything and put it all back together, tweeked the throttle cable, I got her running!! finally isolated the issue, there must be a blockage in the fuel tap valve group. she runs perfectly on reserve, but putters and starves on the 'on' setting, (full tank) so the run circuit in the tap must have a blockage, however on reserve she is all sweet!!
:woohoo: :icon_lol: :icon_mrgreen:
