Another thing that can exacerbate knee pains... Illiotibial fascitis... Which is what took me out of regular work for 2 months last year....

http://www.aafp.org/afp/2005/0415/p1545.html

Physio had me doing all sorts of little toning stretching exercises... But what helped the most (and what i continue to use when it flares up a little) is a high density foam roller! .  you lay on your side, roller at hip and you then push your upper body up! Which drags/rolls your outer thigh along roller! .. If you have any degree of fascitis it will hurt! But it busts up the scar like tissue and over a week or so of repetition eases the problem greatly!..

The main cause of my issue? ... Lack of useful stretching after work exertion! Everything started to glue together! With early middle age not helping!

I can imagine with your extended leg issues last year Yama that similar could occur!... Even a good GP can diagnose this and reccomend a home regimen to treat on the cheap!.. Physio is better of course but management is possible on low cost situations!

You can do it Janxy!!! Just don't dump the concrete on your supervisor... reckon that might not count in your favour... although he'd have a hard time catching you  :icon_lol:

lmao. im thinking its got something to do with unequal leg lengths. only happens when ive got prosthetic attached. waay uneven with it off, still pops but, in the extension of leg not when sitting. no worries.

will know for sure if he pipes in on the rant thread about an epic hangover lol. oh i believe yall were right about the unequal leg length causing the knee/tibia popping. i put the leg back on and after an hour of this i sit down and POP went the weasel. time to break out the allen wrenches and shorten it a bit. ( until i can make it to the prosthetist for a proper adjustment that is..)

Sorry folks... Busy busy and all that! .  try out went fine, the bloke showing me the ropes said no dramas truck handling, only gotta learn the slump rates (how wet the mix is) and be confident that i get it right each load!.

Still waiting on final decision by the bossman. Im happy enough to wait. He tends to waffle around a little for this kind of decision apparently. :icon_rolleyes:

Tell ya what though. The old truck is strong.... But not fast!... With a full load on level road we talking nearly a kilometer to hit 60 km/h!. 9 sp Manual gears. Double clutch shifts for no gear grinding....

I learned some stuff... Incl concrete weighs 2406kgm/cubkc metre!.. Oh and stand back more from the chute when discharging load! Less cement freckles all over me! Bahahaha.:thumb:

Best fun ive had in a while!

course as a trucker you probably already know this but can shift sans clutch pedal. it have a splitter   below the knob? 1-2-3-4 (split high/repeat pattern) 5-6-7-8 ? am curious of pattern. an h pattern?

Time to wrench on your leg Yama... not everyone can say that!!!  :icon_lol:

Good stuff Janxy, sounds like you enjoyed it and the slump stuff I'm guessing is simply an experience thing, hope it works out!!

Yeah Yama.. Repeat H with Reverse and Lo-Lo thru a spring gate on left of the H.. And yep ive shifted without clutch on several different trucks over the years....  This one is problematic tho with a number of drivers trying it, without getting the revs right!.. So its worn and fidgetty.

Given the chance I'll pull the shifter linkage rods, clean/sleeve/grease the joints and also put a kit thru the clutch air assist cylinder. Pretty sure its losing minor pressure thru a seal... Or get the boss to order a new one and change it!.. The clutch is waaaaaay too heavy thru the action and only grabs in the top 1" or so!

The good thing about minor mech repairs on that age of truck is theres plenty of room to access stuff when you tilt the cab up!

Im trying not to sit and stare at the phone! Lol

And thanks Pete! .. Yes the slump is experience, a week of training minimum just to get it "close" and then just learn with each load.   Not that the concrete labourers care! .. They ALWAYS want more water! Lol

yamahonkawazuki

in the late 90s i had trained on a '97 freightshaker (freightliner) condo. i.e. an american road truck. never usedd low or 1. just always went 2345, switch 6789.
orientation/test guy never saw me slipping the clutch. ( HEAVY PEDAL lol). funny thing was it was all for naught. i was a diabetic with a CDL. lol. couldnt use it hardly. although i did briefly driving al ancient mack with a 2 stick. seems i was the only one at the facility who could figure this thing out. or crazy enough to try? was a mack cabover b truck ( straight truck/ box truck) fun days lol.
