Rode to work on Friday - the weather was wonderful  :woohoo:
Today, not so much

On a positive note, spring seems to have sprung, and we're maintaining nighttime lows in the 40's with daytime highs in the 60's. It'll be commuting weather in no time, and I fully intend to commute with the GS as often as possible this season. I'm looking forward to tripling my fuel milage, and getting some miles on the bike.

Saturday, I diagnosed my turn signal indicator problem. It was not the bulb, as I had initially thought, but rather the ground had just come loose. Easy fix. We had good weather Saturday too, but my brother/riding partner was out of town buying a car, so I stayed home and cleaned out my garage.

Cheers for Cincy  Seems like you're the tenth person I've talked to in this area who cleaned their garage this weekend! Should've jumped on that bandwagon.

The weather was gorgeous here... even the rain on Sunday was nice. 'Course, I probably wouldn't be saying that with a running bike... my project has been sidelined for a week or two while I finish up my boy's nursery! If there ever was anything "bittersweet", that'd be it. :woohoo:

Couldn't be more excited buying paint/carpet for his room and getting valve cover gaskets/o-rings in the same day!

Yeah! Perfect weather for cleaning out the garage. Unfortunately, my mess just moved from the garage to the storage shed out back, but at least now I have a little space to work on the bike and cars...

When is the baby due? Also, congratulations and good luck! I've got two of my own, and they definitely keep me busy...

Haha can relate there, I've got a one-car garage and it's half-filled with all my renovated tools and materials. To the basement!

And he's due at the end of July... it'll be our first, so wishes of luck are certainly appreciated!

Now to get those header studs installed tonight so I can finally report back to SBW on  how good/bad I am at math... http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=70880.160

Lashed out 30 of our Australian dollars and installed a pair of Grip Puppies. These foamy little tubes just slide on over the existing grips.
Worked like a charm in reducing (hopefully eliminating) the tingling / burning / numbness of carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms.
I went out with the family on Sunday, we ended up doing about 250 ks just meandering around - the hands were all good.
Also, because they are so easy to grip I found I was actually gripping a lot less which, of course, means my hands were more relaxed and I had a lighter touch on the bars.
$30 for foam is expensive, but the results are worth every cent.

lololololololol  :D  :D  :D  :D

for my bike today I strapped the new headlight to it and drew templates for the brackets that will attach to the fork and also installed an OEM brake lever nut I purchased like 5 years ago and found in my "bike parts" box :icon_rolleyes:... then I had to get ready for work  :technical:

Today was a good day......

My good friend bought a GS500 a couple months ago, and today he was able to ride it home from my garage. It wasn't good that he took it home..... it was good because I have a local friend that has a bike he wants to ride the tires off of. Something tells me that I'll be on 2 wheels a LOT more this summer.

I taxed and MOT'd my bike this morning.  :woohoo: We are back in the game!

Now just need to chase out the running gremlins she seems to have developed. Before I make a start on project rear end, I think I'm going to looking into a carb rebuild kit, and I'm going to replace the stator cover gasket and sump plug. And I need to figure out the brakes too

Awesome to hear mate! (Getting her on the road, not the gremlins, obviously lol)

Cheers QC, the oil leaks should be an easy fix, generator cover gasket and a dab of hylomar at the tachometer drive. I also have the classic bogging down issue, so I have a bit of research, reading and troubleshooting to do to fix that.

Last weekend I put new grips and new mirrors on. Old grips were just so hard, so I wanted to replace them with something a bit more forgiving. Also replaced the mirrors since my last mirrors wouldn't stay put.

Grips: Progrip 714BK Black 125mm Dual Sport Gel Grip
Mirrors: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057V3V9O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Both from amazon. So far so good. I like the grips, they are a good change from the stock grips. A bit more cush, and a bit more diameter, I enjoy using them. The mirrors are really making a difference though. I get a great field of view from them, they are easy to see, and the convex mirror allows me to see behind me and all around quite easily. And most important, they haven't moved a mm. My only complaint is with the convex lense, it's hard to see exactly what is behind me, and what I mean by that, is what type of car might be coming up on me, is it the police? or my wife? LOL... Good thing I don't really speed much. My last mirrors were cheapo amazon mirrors (sort of like these) but they never stayed put and anytime I accelerated they were flopping all over.

Cleaned my wheels today. I didn't realize how dirty they were. There are several scratches on the front wheel from when I dropped it in my gravel driveway. Any suggestions on what I should use to touch those up? Regular automotive touchup paint?
