Check the battery in the remote Yama!

....

Another massage on shoulder and leg this week, this time with acupuncture.... The woman is like a bloody Terminator! Lol... Here i was thinking it be easier this week, but she ramped it up till the pain was right at that point where i was gonna go all Gamma! ... Had to say STOP a few times and collect some calm!...  But the shoulder needs more work for sure.. Its an old scar tissue area built up over many years.

I might drink neat vodka before next appt!

It still feels better now than it did...  Just the workover was very sharp!

.... Y'know... I think I'll give up falling off the back of the Concrete truck for the rest of the week... Maybe even for May!

Missed the low step, went backwards, grabbed at the chute with left hand and skinned a couple fingers open a bit, continued down, collected the concrete pump machine with left shoulder and hard hat (saved me a nasty head strike!) , arse in the dust and then rolled back to lay flat with a thin stream of concrete over my legs!...

Im ok, just a bit sore.... All reported and first aided.... Working again tmw so long as scapula dont freeze up overnight......

Yep..... I've had my quota of owies for now.... Please refer any pending owies to the archives section! :icon_rolleyes:

Ouch Janxy!!! But did you do it to a Benny Hill soundtrack? That would've been entertaining for everyone else at least...  :icon_lol:

And yep, I've got a not-so-flash drill press that does the trick. Got a mate who's offered to end mill some recesses for the screws though so they don't just sit on top like a sore thumb.

Thanks folks!.. Dont be too sad Showbiz, it was a "learning experience".. Pete, not so much a Benny Hill soundtrack as a Kevin bloody Wilson soundtrack!

Panadol and anti inflamatory tablets and i dont feel too rough today.. I know the aches are there but they are just muttering not yelling! :thumb:

Soooo... my wife's been doing this for a while but for me it started last Friday night... we're now on a low carb high fat (LCHF) diet... although I hate using the word diet as it implies weight loss and short term goals that you won't stick with which is not the case here.

Main reason for doing this for me is experiencing what are effectively pre-diabetic symptoms... ravenously hungry every 90 minutes to 2 hours... growing manboobs to accompany my beer gut... foggy head if I don't eat... etc.

Anyway, side effects of this change? In four days I lost 3.4kg which I think is about 6 pounds for you US folk if I convert correctly. Still dropping 100 grams a day or so but not as rapid.

Read two books "Wheat Belly" and "Grain Brain" and you will never look at a loaf of "healthy wholemeal" bread the same way again... or any other grain for that matter. It goes well beyond that of course and in a nutshell, carbs are really bad and natural good fat is really good and is what our bodies need.

It's not the easiest thing to do but is well worth it.

It was my wife's birthday yesterday so we had plenty to eat.

Here's what I had yesterday between breakfast and dinner...

2 long black coffees with a teaspoon of cream in each... the full fat stuff, no light cream here and you gotta make sure there are no "thickeners" in it which will be wheat based.

A poached egg and a couple of slices of ham and chicken meat.

Munched on some celery and carrot sticks with some camambert.

Had a few low carb beers.

Then dinner...

Delicious red wine.

Garlic "bread"... made from almond meal etc. no grains in this "bread".

Turkey breast smothered in a cream cheese sauce with butter-fried cale and spinach and some asparagus.

Desert was some coconut raspberry slice, again cooked with plenty of butter and no grains in sight.

A couple of pieces of 90% cocoa Lindt chocolate.

And accompanied by some Tia Maria which is apparently a zero carb liquer.

End result after all that? Happily satisfied belly without feeling over-full and stuffed and lost another 100 grams compared to the night before (I weigh myself just before jumping into bed).

I'm gobsmacked with it all so far... and have not been missing the ice cream I munch on at night nor the occasional chocolate bar through the week and I don't miss the fruit I used to eat in the morning either.

A lot of my favourite foods which I used to minimise due to "high fat" are now back on the list... eggs... bacon... cheese... it's all good stuff!!!

And no, high fat is not going to give you a heart attack, and in fact there is scientific proof having these natural fats and oils will help as well as reduce your risk of diabetes, Alzheimers, and a bunch of other stuff. Our housemate's psoriasis has all but gone as well.

Wheat Belly is written by a cardiologist and Brain Grain is written by a neurosurgeon, so there are plenty of actual scientific type references in there that go way over my head.

Wow that's a long post... but worth the read I can assure you!!

Good for you, man! Paleo's normally my jam, but I'm envious of your wine consumption. Might have to consider a switch.

You're lookin' at pic's of 10 awesome classic Katanas plus a couple of GS1100G's (one with a sidecar) and my little GS450 :D

My wife did the paleo thing for a bit but found she was just missing out on dairy for no good reason.

The LCHF thing is really just based on the types of food we've always had access to over the many thousands of previous generations, so in theory it's a more realistic diet for us... and so far in practise I find it to be working well. Just over a week and nearly 4kg lighter with changing nothing except what I eat. My manboobs are still present but are definitely diminishing and I'm going to have to put another hole in my belt soon...

I am going to look into some exercise though, I don't get a lot of time so a gym is out and to be honest I'm not a fan of exercise for exercise's sake, I really like to get exercise as a part of actually doing something or achieving something. One reason I'm happy to hand sand and hand file stuff on my bike projects rather than using power tools sometimes :)

Hmmm... Sounds like more of a eating plan than a diet.... I dislike that word!.... It gets all bent around every different concept!

peteGS

Yes Janxy!!! I hate the word diet too, especially where this is concerned... yes it's changing what I eat, so it's changing my diet in the true sense of the word... but it's not a fad diet or something you can't stick to because it lacks critical nutrients or anything like that. It's actually somewhat of a lifestyle change really to a certain extent.

On another note my fork legs are just about ready to re-assemble, just need to visit a mate so I can end mill some recesses to make the bolts look a little neater:

Good stuff Janxy!! And no, didn't take it that you were knocking it, I was agreeing with your diet comment  :thumb: I have more energy than I've had in years... I'm thinking late 20's early 30's here... completely shocked! Been doing a little yoga type exercise which is interesting but I just signed up for the gym through work yesterday and will be starting on Monday... three of us at work are starting the Decrepit Old Man Gym Club  :icon_lol: Haven't weighed myself much this week (trying to do it weekly now) but I know I've lost about 4.5kg in about a week and a half now... and I'm not going hungry etc.

As for the forky bits, yeah they've come up well! Went down to a mate's place last night to do some milling on the plates but haven't done photos yet, will probably get some on the weekend when I get them to the same finish as the forks.

I'm taking a bit of a different tact than the 450... rolling chassis first... but while waiting for $$$ for powder coating just knocking over all those little detail bits I can so I can actually do some final assembly once the frame is done. That'll give a nice little boost to the project and motivation... at least that's the plan!  :thumb:
