Always love your updates Pete!!!
pete youve got to promise 2 things, 1. a video of the initial engine start on the completed bike, with the narrated walkaround of course ;), and 2. a ride on video :) im excited to see this thing come alive. if you want , i could take the stills and any forthcoming video and combine them into one production which you could youtube ( or host wherever).
Aaron
p.s. my friend, amazing work thusfar.

that kit with the "cheap" shipping option  @ 75 entails it being im assuming clearing customs there or here, but its in HK. THEN being boxed and put on a trans pacific cargo ship. taking up to 3 months. next level up is roughly 3 weeks at 2x the shipping  cost @ 155ish. which is im assuming airmail. ive shipped things airmail to australia before so i can understand cost. box is probably 18"x18"x18" if i had to guess. so idk lol. checking to see  if anything is available a bit closer lol.
Aaron
edit :
YAY found something both cheaper as well as closer @ www.bikeberry.com  a 38cc 4 stroke friction drive kit. ships in 5 to 7 days. not weeks, DAYS lol. things looking up.

Cheers guys!!

Yep, motivation is high indeed  :thumb: If only the time and funds matched the motivation... not back to work until Wednesday though so hopefully more can be done!

Three top coats on the bits yesterday, hopefully today will be wheel prep followed by paint on Sunday at this stage.

Yama, video will be taken! I have other fellas in the US wanting to see it as well as interstate here in Aus, so I'll be in deep shaZam! if I don't do some videos.

plus the required happy dance upon first firing./ ride.. yay motivation, trying to see what a one legged man can do work wise. plus with a 4stroke mounted up, getting out and about will be easier. might have to stock up on street tires. until i get tension on roller dialed in. ( or convert to a smoothish roller.

I might spare you all the happy dance  ;)

Hmmm friction drive... yeah that could be brutal on tyres if you set it up wrong! Slightly lower tyre pressure may give better drive... larger surface area to bite on.

contemplating that. or eventually converting to a semi smooth spindle so i can revert back to normal tire pressure. and use a mtb 3 finger brake lever for throttle instead of a twist throttle.

And Yama...
I hope your fabrication skills are up to the task. That engine is gonna' look & feel mighty large on that lil' knee scooter.  :whisper:

true. i caould probably either get a single training wheel for the engine/stump side or a counterweight on good leg side. ( or both) adult size training wheels are pricy though. so may be able to rig up a mount out of steel and use that one tire i set aside for it. whichever way i do want to also rig a case guard of some sort. if god forbid i go down.
Aaron
for the cage probably some stiff wire kinda like fence fabric but stiffer. and probably a driill also. an ex friend ran off with mine ( and never returned it) hes since passed on, so a cheap black and decker from walmart orr something. in case i have to drill mounting holes in the back supports.
will have to get another camera mount for the back wheel though. my other one broke finally. but its in the perfect spot. on engine side maybe 3" above gound level.  pointed at front tire.  perfect for low filming of the initial ride lol.

Wheels and spacers are done... except I dropped the top right spacer while turning it around during the clear coat, so gotta do something about that yet  :technical:

looking forward to the bike porn grand unveiling.
p.s. rich whats your thoughts on semi-pneumatic tires?
if the friction drive will chew a bit of rubber, was eyeballing them. a 12" tire and wheel is about what i pay for tires as it is. i may try one and see. besides it would have a bonus. after i wear out three of them ( theyre mounted on wire wheels, i could drill a hole for the schraeder valve and there i go. my wire wheel set lol.

Working from home today in anticipation of the frame being ready... I hope I won't be disappointed again!!

I also need to pick up another set of swingarm bearings after destroying the first lot... pro tip... swingarm bearings should be flush with the outside of the arm, not drifted in to the inner lip  :technical:

I now have some threaded rod sorted to install the new set I should be getting today...
