Bike porn ftw lLol.Slight delay on the cow. What was supposed to be 8mm threaded rod arrived today, turned out to be 1/4" or 6.35mm may try to sleeve this to fit. It IS possible. If only fir a temporary setup.

Oh wait! I just remembered something...
We have a new bike in the family collection. My Son bought his wife a Honda Grom for Christmas last year.
A 125cc, 4 speed rip-around bike!

My daughter-in-law is very petite, maybe 110 pounds. So in her hands it more like a little rocket-sled.

She looks cute on it.
It actually fits her quite well.

Unfortunately for me, at 6' 3" my knees are under my chin when I ride it. Not a pretty sight. :-(

so to her its the way the gs fits us. to you however, its the "monkey bike" im not large in stature either ( 5' 10" 143lbs losing weight again for some reason) but i tried riding a pw50 once although fun, my knees were almost up to my ears lol. or like my norwegian/american grandfather nearly 7' tall lol (roughly 6'8") he rented a car on a budget many years ago. a friggin geo metro.  seat all back, and knees as high as wheel.
ohhh the fun lol.

My GS500F (even with a seat-booster cushion, handlebar risers, & dropped foot pegs) fit me kind of tight.
However, the DL1000 fits me perfect. When stopped at an intersection and standing flat-footed, my scrotum just clears the seat by an inch or less.

On the other hand... The DL is not nearly as much fun as the GS was.
Thanks for asking!

im short in stature really. i could clear a gs with ease yyet many cruiser bikes that sat lower than the gs i couldnt flatfoot. mainly due to seat width. ive  got to see  this lil honda lol.

I followed a pair of fools home on Groms yesterday... the guy second in line was far taller than me and he couldn't see shaZam! out of his mirrors, he spent more time moving his whole body around on the bike trying to see what was behind him in his mirror than he did looking forwards.

Swerving in and out of traffic so they kept in front of me (I refuse to do that, I like living too much) and of course the one "fun" spot on the way home is a short twisty uphill section that's lots of fun if you do it right, but of course those things have no power so I got stuck behind them at the top...  :technical:

Anyways, front indicator mounts sorted... need to slightly reshape and paint satin black, but they'll work  :thumb:

im going to collect these  images of the kitkat, set them to thus sprach zarathustra and make a production out of it. :) methinks youd like it. btw if by chance you can get the monkeybike money shot of those guys, go for it. thats a meme in the making right there.
those little minibikes are fun. if i can get some seat time on a pw50 again ill do likewise. granted only one leg so it wont involve shifting unless i use my hand.

Cheers guys!! Getting some spaghetti going now... next I need to start running the short runs between fuse box and relays to actually make some connections  :thumb:

Gotta work out a location for the USB charger yet too. Just want something I can plug a phone or GoPro into if the need arises.

Psst the gopro need must arise. lol that being said from a parts haus do like i did for the gs. pick up a cig lighter plug with waterproof cap. and for extra ocd lol protection sake mount it pointed down. you can then make use of a simple car plug connection (the cellphone charger type dongle.) many of which have usb connections ;). if those arent available locally, let me know. ill do my best to ship you one. i keep PLENTY of spares lol.
Aaron.
no updates on the cow to report...yet. awaiting the axle rod. theres a few minor things i COULD be doing, such as moving the clamp bolts closer together. but probably will wait to do until the axxle piece arrives so i can knock it out at once. hmmm in meantime could run throttle cable and kill switch wiring...

Not sure it's easy to see Yama but the USB charger is sitting on the rear tray beside the pliers. Dual port USB under a "weatherproof" rubber cap.

The plan at this stage is to make a rectangular compartment on top of that tray with some foam padding so it's a storage box with the charger inside. I'll have a tool roll at the rear inside the tail piece so there won't be tools banging around in the compartment to destroy the phone/GoPro battery/whatever.

Going to change up the indicator brackets also. My initial thought was to have them mounted by one of the bolts holding the front cowling on which looks better and neater IMO, however it looked to me like I couldn't get good clearance from the fork leg without extending them out too far. After looking at how one of the other fellas did his and revisiting last night, it's definitely doable, so that's a win  :thumb:

Will post pic's once it's more than a thought... gotta service the 450 this weekend so won't be much time for the Kat though.

kk i see it now you mention it lol.  btw anyway to turn the voltage down on a 20v liion battery so i can use automotive voltage grade devices, a rheostat or some sort oftransformer? ive got a 20v black and decker drill.. the battery could be used to power said device/soff of this if i can dial down the voltage down to im assuming 13..8-14.4.

Google voltage divider... but depending on the current involved it may not be suitable because you may need a ridiculously large resistor! You can also use voltage regulators for a slightly more complex but more accurate solution.

Serviced the 450 Friday night and yesterday... repaired a buggered thread for one of the valve cover bolts (boy that was fun), new oil/filter, adjusted and lubed the chain, adjusted and lubed the clutch cable, valve clearances checked, and new fork oil.

I also installed some extremely expensive fork preload spacers. I got a hot tip that 20 cent pieces were the way to go for preload, but they didn't fit, so 10 cent pieces it was. 4 in each leg, so I have 80 cent preload spacers  :icon_lol:

Going to give her her first bath for the year today (yep, how slack! too busy riding...) and then will take a test ride. I have a feeling the front's going to be nice and firm now but the rear may need another notch on the preload to match.

Test ride seemed successful, didn't hit too many big bumps and no real fast sweepers to properly test stability, but so far so good. It's potentially a little stiff on the bumps but need more time to tell, so far it doesn't feel like the rear is too soft.

While there's nothing really to photograph yet, I did start some terminations on the Kat harness. I'm to the point where I can start splicing in the short runs off to the components and get more bits terminated, so the bulk of the harness shouldn't be too far away from being done. I'm mainly just missing a horn and the dash when it comes to completeness. I have plans for a dash but nothing decided on a horn yet, and it's not exactly an urgent item to worry about. Those wires I've just left long enough they can hang around unterminated until I'm ready.

Wiring porn... well... is that a thing? Not really I guess... but here's some pic's anyway of starting to terminate some of the Kat harness...
