So confused getting this shifting work on the Kat... following the manual but it makes no sense 

It either engages the recesses and only moves a couple of gears, or sits between the recesses and goes nowhere

'Tis so quiet in here... 

Shifting issue sorted, not because I had a  moment or figured it out, but simply because I put it together again and it was all fine 

Test fit cases together, shifting quite happily from 1st to 5th including neutral 

bad azz pete!

been taking it easy on card. it hated me with this one. ( and sun off camera. but the paint i came up with. navy blue with formula red pearl everything but the linkages has this. makes for decent camo low light.

That would indeed be hard to see at night 

Had an exciting night cleaning the crankcase gasket surfaces then the bolts and getting them sorted, does mean the cases should be ready to go together though

Cases together... but I haven't ordered an O ring which stops me putting the sump cover on 

Will order that with a few other O rings today, hopefully they're not back ordered!

I'm actively resisting the urge to tally costs... you're right it will not be cheap! Despite a lot of help with very cheap/free parts from mates... a budget build it might be, but that don't mean cheap!

I'll be distracted fixing my top box mount on the 450 today, the hook on the base plate is plastic and broke during our ride yesterday while a mate was on it, and it went rolling down the road at 100kph. Fortunately it stayed in one piece and another mate was there with his outfit  so we also had a way to bring it home, otherwise that would've been really awkward...

Adidasguy GOD rest his soul, he would approve. Budget yes, err maybe but it was done the way it was supposed to be done.

The peteGS Kat project is not at the whim of some million dollar Hollywood movie star. It is the 'hands-on' work of one very motivated master-mechanic.
