As the title suggests, I'm wondering if anyone has found an LED headlight to fit the GS500F.

I was working on making a bracket that would let you bolt an LED insert into the stock bucket. However its super slo mo. The points to remember are this -
Those 2 stacked ones are bright as fruck but have poor beam pattern. T or Upside down Triangle pattern is the best.
The reflector shape in the GS isn't deep parabolic shape to allow insert LED's to give you the pattern for good illumination without blinding those in front of you. You really need those daymaker and its clones, 4-5 big led's placed horizontally.
There was a god one I found ~2yrs ago and started on a bracket, but its now been put on the back burner.
The added problems with a GS is that there's a ton of wiring in the bucket, but the general thought I had was that some judicious re routing will take care of that. A 2nd problem may be heat, the led's have a heat sink and if it starts to get super hot being inside that bucket, it may be bad for both the wiring and the light.

I have a Safego LED headlight bulb  from amazon in my Honda. That bike has a traditional headlight bucket. The heat-sink just barely fits. It's a good mod for these older bikes
because they draw so much less, just 20 watts; so it takes a big load off the alternator. The led doesn't get as hot as the halogen, the fan is for the circuit board in the base of the bulb.

But now I'm looking for a light for the F bikes. The headlight housing on the faired F's fits an H4, with no wiggle room. I have an older HID set-up that may fit and draws 35 watts; so I'll
probably try that if I can't find an LED that fits.

Are you looking for the whole headlight assembly or just a bulb?

IIRC, Bluesmudge uses a LED bulb from advmonster.com in his F bike. Hopefully he'll see this and reply... but if not, there are other threads where he talked about it.

I had a similar LED bulb from the same site installed in my E's headlight bucket and IMO it worked quite well. It was just a simple bulb, no heat-sink. The one I used was called the "Native H4" but has since been replaced/updated to this one here:

Thanks, I'm just looking for a bulb. I actually bought one of the native bulbs shown in the comparison photo, but the base is too big...maybe the grinder? lol

Oh F-airing - never mind.
BTW Many many hondas especially 04 and later or may even be earlier too shadows and that fury/VTX thing had the perfect shape for a LED bulb inserted into their original headlight for a very good and brighter beam pattern.
Not so with GS or a few other naked's, F-airing ??? no idea.

On my F model I have the ADVmonster "mesh monster." Doesn't look like they sell it anymore but I'm sure you can find something similar since they are just rebranding bulbs you get get on Alibaba/eBay.
The mesh monster uses flexible mesh metal for the heat sink, so it sticks out behind the headlight bucket where there is plenty of airflow. There is a top and bottom LED on a flat surface that does an OK job of mimicking the filament of a Halogen bulb. With lots of adjustment I was able to get a beam pattern that throws good light and doesn't blind oncoming traffic. I wish the color temperature wasn't so blue. This bulb is like 5 years old so I bet there are more options now.

If I wasn't pushing the GS's electrical system to its limit with auxiliary lighting, sometimes trailer lighting, heated grips and gear, and charging electronics, I would go back to the standard halogen bulb for the better beam pattern and color reproduction but I need every amp I can get so LED it is.

Thanks, I'll look around and see if someone is selling a rebranded version.

Found my old HID set-up. This actually works a lot better in the GS housing than it did in a standard bucket (too freakin bright!). I doesn't get hot like an LED, but it has an external ballast. Installation was PnP plus a couple of zip ties for the ballast. This was just a cheap ebay kit. It's rated at 35w. I tried it this evening and it's not bad, I did end up aiming a fair bit lower.

Can anyone tell me the number of the little 4w position bulb? I'd like to find a small LED to get a better color match.
