Hey all!  Chiquita here, I'm new to the board, and riding.  Been riding for just under a year and already on my second bike, lol.  Got a Suzuki Savage last year, (first bike ever),  and learned to ride on her.  Couple of weeks ago got a wild hair and decided to check out a sportbike, just for kicks.  Well I ended up with a new 04 GS500F, and haven't looked back.  I can't belive the difference between my cruiser and my GS.
I am in Georgia, southeast of Atl., over 40, single and would love to meet some people in my area to ride with.  I'm still a newb, but trying real hard not to be a squid, lol.

First year riding a bike,  much better than sex!

Had a grin on me for like 3 weeks after my first ride.

Purchased a 2004 GS 500F in blue two months ago and have made several appearance modifications.

Fun little bike!  Planning on buying an SV650S next year but still keeping this one!

I'm a 27-year-old graduate student in Immunology.  I'm from Chicago; I have lived in Bryn Mawr (near Philly), Lincoln, NE, Berkeley, CA, and am currently in the Seattle area.

I do love cars; my track car is a 1995 Miata that has been tweaked a bit on power, a lot on suspension, a lot on brakes, and is currently on an aggressive weight-loss program.  I sold my BMW 325e that I bought with a blown engine and dropped a new engine into to buy my first bike.  I do all of my own work on cars, and expect, with y'alls help, for that trend to continue on bikes.  :D

Crikey, you're all so damned OLD!

Alex, 17 year old male from NH. Been riding street since the day I got my driver's license (June 24th '03). Got the GS a few weeks after that and love it to pieces! I don't come here too often because I'm usually busy harassing the people at SSBC. Hoping to get an SV650 next spring!!!!

P.S. The GS is a '92, should have about 20k miles by the end of the season. Still looks new! (Well, except for the scratches from a parking lot tip-over).

LizardQueen

Married, 39 year old Unix sysadmin outside of Burlington, Vermont. Passed the MSF (first time I'd ever been behind the bars of any 2 wheeler) on a Honda Nighthawk a month ago, then  found my GS this past weekend. It's a 93, red with pink stripes, 13K miles, in nice shape.
Picked it up last night.

Hubby has been riding for 30 years, has 2 largish Hondas in the shed next to mine - a 1981 CB750F, and a Honda 919.  Both were too big for me, I wanted to start small. Plus he'd kill me if I dropped one of his  .

You say the Escort is a project.  Are you turning it into a race car of some sort?  Or just keeping it running?  A rally escort would be cool :thumb:

oh the escort project was to keep it running, but since thats been done. alot of lil work has been done to it to make it a lil different.

-17 rims gunmetal/chrome with Z rated tires
-3 inch drop front 1.5 in the rear(had rubbing problems)
-thicker front and rear sway bars, along with front and rear strut bars
-clear corners and clear taillights
-M3 mirrors with LED blinkers
-custom intake and exhaust along with some header work
-underdrive pullies added
-custom audio system
-tint
-tranny swap
-currently working on a wide bodykit and molding a chevy cav. drift kit onto my car.
-Just molded a WRX hood scoop
-Hopefully if I have some sort of time this winter I'll drop a turbo, or i'll just wait till next spring to do an engine swap. Oh yeah the car is purple probably be painted black with a silver mist in about 3 weeks.

umm thats all I can come up with right now, but I think thats all the major stuff. But its a long project. And I hope to make my new GS something special as well.

Lurked around here for about a year.  Long enough.

Bought a 2002 on ebay from a pawn shop in Oklahoma....$2600.
Insurance $45 for liability only...figured that if I break it I can fix it.
Got all the legalities, training, and testing done last December.
Promply hit a raccoon in the road...man can that rear tire spin.
Also a low speed slide into the driveway of a pancake house...
too old for that kind of character building.  Survived the first 6 months with only a few scratches and dings to the GS.  I'm confidently buzzing around town these days.

Got a wife and 4 kids over the last 24 years...all driving cars now.
Own 4 cars and the GS500...I haven't driven a car to work but a handful of times since last December.
Rode a mountain bike to work for 6 months before getting the GS...
too old for that too...figured a 50cc scooter would do the job instead.
Luckily my Motorcycle friends talked me out of it...insisted on nothing less than a 500cc for commuting...I bit...and am I ever glad.  Scooters are for students and they're too cute for an old grouch.

I've been mooching upgrade info off this forum but haven't done much to the bike except adding a givi windshield, some case savers, and the progressive springs.  Am currently fabricating a honker big rack for the back so that I can haul a bunch of stuff for work.  Might even drive across Texas (and beyond) someday.  Thanks for all the pictures everyone.

Love my GS500 and this forum!

Just found this site today. I'm in the AF stationed in GA.   I had an 89 as my first bike in highschool about 13 years ago.  My father still has it in the garage and I actually took it for a spin a couple weeks ago..I didn't remember it being such a fun bike!
