My GS when on a Foremost Insurance Co. policy along with other bikes; with 100/300/100, uninsured/Underinsured, liability, collision and comprehensive was $93 annually.  I just moved it to a separate policy because I added my 21 year old daughter to the bike.  She just completed the MSF course, and has no ticket or accidents.  Now the annual premium is $628 for the same coverage.  The collision part is $400.

Don't worry man, I'm 21, and I have a perfect driving record.  I have only had one claim, and that was a few years back cuz some dumb @ss stole my stereo out of my car.  I pay just under $2,500 a year canadian for my 05 GS500F.  I also pay $3,100 a year for my 95 neon.  Figure that out.  Until your 25, keep a bottle of lubricant in your pocket! :? Cuz the insuance companies are gunna bend you over and screw you in a very uncompfortable place, and I don't mean the back of a Volkswagen!

Yay, I'm 25 in 10 weeks :thumb:
No more  :bs: from the insurance companies :)
Although I'm sure there will still be some excuse for them to rip me off

I pay about $1000 for my car and about $700 for the GS to get comprehensive insurance (all Australian dollars). But then you've gotta add about $500 each for the compulsory third party personal injury insurance that we have to pay here in New South Wales at rego time. And then there's the actual rego fee, which is about $250 for the car and about $100 for the GS. And then $20 or $30 each for the roadworthy check. Hey, I might just sell them both and get a horse... ;)

Quote from: '04gs500fwell im 19 have MSF course NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT and NEVER had a ticket, so wtf is with these quotes?

19 and a faired bike.  go with a naked one and it will drop.  and it should go down when you hit 21, 25, 26, etc.

my 93 (with 1 speeding and 2 other tickets on my record) is under $300/YEAR ... btw - anyone in MD try Maryland Cycle Direct - real cheap  :)

If you live in Michigan check out State Farm.  Some guy on the gixxer.com website told me about the Stae Farm place in Groose Point Hills or something and to talk to Nancy.  Progressive quoted me $2700 a year for $1000 deductible.  State Farm $531 a year with a $500 deductible.  I have an 05 gsxr600 by the way.

I'm going to second that.  I'm with State Farm and was paying $700 CDN for my 2004 GS500F.  In fact, my 2001 CBR600F4i is $20 cheaper.  I'm not sure how that makes much sense, even if it is a bit older than my GS, but I'm not complaining.

JoshP

Don't feel bad man, I'm 19 too.  Progressive also wanted to reem me wanting about 5K a year on a new 600cc bike.  My State Farm guy wanted 1500 a year for just about any new 600cc bike, but it's still outa my range since i'm still paying on a new truck, insurance for that, my cell phone, gas, and currently a 4 wheeler(that I'm trying to sell).  I've decided to go for an 04-05 GSF b/c the insurance is cheaper.  Sure my pride will suffer when the gixxers blow by me, but i'll still have money, and i won't die as fast....

400 a year for full coverage(FC) on my 04 GS500F.  My insurance company is Progressive.

A new 600 Katana or SV650S would be around $1100 a year FC

R1 or BUSA $2397  for FC for a year.

I am 29,  30 in July and have a clean record.

My next bike is probably going to be a older 750 Katana or 96-99 GSXR600.  Older nice bike a little less on insurance.

Insurance companies ( :nana: ) don't get to bend over motorcyclists in Washington. Because of RCW 46.30.020 mandatory liability insurance doesn't apply to motorcyclists.

Cheers to you Washington

Damn!  I'm 23, I pay under $400/yr for full coverage on my 97 GS500E, which was valued at about $1900 when I purchased it a few years ago.  I have it on my father's insurance plan, which gives me multiple veh. discounts and discount because the house is through the same company.

I'm 30 and have been watching this forum for the past couple of months.  My policy is $82/ 6 mo liability & uninsured motorist only on a '96 500e with state farm.  I have 1 car wreck & following too close ticket from a year ago, but I have 2 cages insured with SF as well.  They would give me some additional discount, like 15% if I can show them my msf certificate-although I didn't tell them it was 10 yrs ago I took the course.

I think the age limit varies by state.  I dont know if it matters if you are male or female?  I do know this right now (24 yrs old) $395 for liability.  In a month and a half (25 yrs of age) $285 for full coverage.

What the hell? I am paying $1400 annually for full coverage and I'm 25. Sure, it's an '05, but how is it more to insure than my '01 Monte Carlo? You mean to tell me that it will cost more to replace a stolen/wrecked bike than a car? Please. Thanks, All State. shaZam!, Progressive was even more than that. Please, someone tell me how a bike is more than a car to insure. Full coverage on my Monte, '81 BMW and '79 Corvette was $1100 a year.  :x  :x  :x

Bike insurance is so high because your getting quotes with "COLLISION"  take off collision and any medical and it should drop a huge amount.  Also try to state that it is for "Pleasure,"  $1000 deductable on comp, Tell them its 487cc because some insure by engine size and 500 is a cutoff so you tell them its only 487 and it should be lower.

Also as stated above it is because Mr Joe gets back from the military or SPIKE gets a job in Highschool and kills themself within 5 miles of the dealer because "A 500 is too small, you need at least a 750cc so I can make some more commissions off of you before you die."(typical salesman)

Im 22, no accidents, male.  Paying $300/yr with AIG.  If they ask say you have a job requiring a specialty degree,  about 20% difference.

Well, I need comp and collision because it's financed. Well, nobody from the stealership told me that I need all that coverage, but when financing you usually do. And the deducts have to be $500 or under. So I'm kinda stuck. I'll hit up AIG and see what they say; I think an accounting degree is specialized enough  :dunno:

I have all three of my bikes covered with comp and collision for about $700 annually..

I have a 2004 Honda VTX 1300
I have a 1998 Honda Shadow A.C.E. 750 (wifes bike)
and the 1996 GS500 (bike I keep for baby brother to use)

The wife is an insurance attourney and has checked them out. They seem to be a pretty good company..

Hi, my name is Dave, and the insurance rapists hate me. Look at this:

David C,  your annual BikelinE rate is $4,233

Bodily Injury Liability      25000/50000      $146
Property Damage Liability    10000    $64
Passenger Liability    25000/50000    $111
UM/UIM Bodily Injury    25000/50000    $43
Comprehensive    500 Deductible    $1,535
Collision    500 Deductible    $2,306
Medical Payments    1000/100    $28

What in the world? Is it my name that pisses them off? That is absurd. Yes, assholes, I would like to insure my bike for an annual rate almost equal it the value of it.
