Hi, thought i maybe should give you some status report on my project bike. Don´t have any pictures to show you, mostly cause there´s not so much visual diffrense from the last pics.

Anyway, have remounted all the wirings whitch went pretty eazy i must say. Also remounted the chain and carbs. Then i have modified the stock footrest plates so the riding position will be more "sporty" along with the woodcraft clipons, just waiting for the aluminium footpegs i ordered  on ebay to arrive. I will make some custom rearsets from aluminium later on, but those will do for now.

Next thing on the list is to fabrocate the piping for the higher mounted exhaust.

After that i should be able to take it out on a testrun, just to se everything works as good as it did bbefore i took it apart.

That´s it for now.

Paint it the sv650 copper color.  That would be beautiful with some kind of pearl or metallic flake mixed into it.

I will probably paint the bike myself in my garage, so no advanced things like pearl ore metallica effects, just solid red?  :icon_rolleyes:  But i agree, that sv 650 copper is cool.

Krusse how did you mount that awesome bandit wheel?  I think i'm missing a link to a thread some where because you've talked about it a little.  I have read that it fits fine you just need to adjust the rear brake arm bar, along with the brake caliper bracket. Any help would be great, thanks.

I guess it´s many ways to do this, weather you choose to use the GS axle ore the bandit one and so on. But check out the wiki (http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Bandit600RearWheel). I used the stock GS axle along with GS bearings, the stock GS sprocketholder and the Bandit 600 stock spacer between the bearings. Then it´s just to bend (or fabricate a new one) rear caliper bar, and cut (don´t remember how much) the caliper holder so everything fit´s in the swing. I also mounted some washers under the sprocket to gain some clearence between the tire and chain. But that´s about it.  :thumb:

I did the bandit 600 wheel.I'm reworking the brake caliper bracket. The rotor only goes half way into the caliper.I was told  a while back that a larger rotor from another bike would work.Only thing is I can't remember which bikes would possibly work.My plans are to remake the bracket or press an aluminum slug into the axle hole and the redrill the hole off set.
PICS are GONE never TO return.

Can the rubber cush drives from the GS fit in the bandit 600 wheel?

Yes. They are the same.

I´m not planing to do something about this, the rearbreak woks, the pads will wear a little funny, and you will get i little less breakin power i guess, but that´s fine by me. You just have to step on it a little bit harder.  :)

That´s probably a healthy way of thinking!  :thumb:
If i in the future should do anything about this rearbreak issue, i would make a custom made caliper holder. But i doubt i will, propably would invest in a better caliper for the front brake instad.

And yeah, some updates.. have mounted all the controls and that kind of stuff, so it´s getting closer. Hope to start with the exhaust any day now. And i bought a new camera yeasterday, so there will be some new pics soon.

Hi everyone,

Well, it has been a while since i posted here, sorry for that. Have been a lot of other things goiing on, like becoming a dad for instance.  8) But actually i have done a lot of progress on my GS. Bassicly it´s just the painting left to do. I have bought the 2 component paint, but i´m not gonna tell you what color it is.  :flipoff: That will be a suprise later on. Have done some testruns, and i must say it feels great. Stay tuned for final results maybe next weekend.  O0

Here some progress pics.
